Before Shower Thank You Notes?

My shower is in about a month, but today I got a gift with a note saying "Happy Shower, can't wait to see you there!".

For all of the other gifts I've gotten I've been sending them TY notes right away, should I do the same for this, or should I wait until after the shower?  Should I send one now and then send another one after the shower?

Confused.

Weird. But I would still send one now and not wait.

ETA: Actually, ask and see if she wants you to wait to open it at the shower. Either way, let her now you got it.

  • If the person Is coming to the shower, I personally would wait to open it. If the person is traveling to your shower, she might have sent it early so she wouldn't have to take it with her. If the shower is not for like a month or something though, I would call her and thank her to let her know it came and ask if she would prefer I wait to open it or not. Congrats, have fun at your shower!

  • Always send a thank you card now. You "can" ask her if she wants you to open it now or at the shower. I had the same situation and my friend laughed when I asked her if I should open it nor or bring it to the shower. She said of course open it now, I don't want you to have to lug the gift to the shower. I sent it early to the hosue so you didn't HAVE to lug it around in the first place on that day! LOL

I mean, it's already opened.  It wasn't like it was wrapped in gift wrap, it was sent from the store to me and the note was at the bottom of the box.  Also I have a feeling she sent it this way because both me and her will be flying to the shower in the first place.  I'm going to be in enough of a dilemma trying to find a way to get everything home without taking more stuff up with me!

I'll send a thank you note now though, cause that seems to be the general consensus.

ETA: Thinking about more now, I have a feeling that a lot of the presents will be sent this way, hmm will make for an interesting shower if I've already received half the presents ahead of time.
  • gotcha. I assumed it was a wrapped gift. Definitely send a thank you note now.

I flew in for my shower and a few guests sent stuff to my house (after the shower though). One gave me an envelope with a card and a picture of the stuff she got us. Others just gave me the gift receipt and said it would be there when I got back. My SIL sent it to MIL who brought it to the shower.
