Bridesmaid missing parties/showers. Gift idea for bride???

One of my best friends is soon to be married, and I'm so excited to be one of her bridesmaids! However, we live nearly seven hours away from each other, which means that I will be missing nearly all of the showers and parties leading up to her wedding. I hate that I'm not going to be there, and I want to do something to show her some love on those weekends that I will be missing out on!

So to any past/future brides or bridesmaids out there: help me think of a gift idea?! Three of her events are scheduled during one weekend, so I'm trying to come up with something cute and fun (and affordable, if possible) to send to her sometime during the week leading up to her busy weekend of bridal events! Brides, what would make you happy to have on a busy shower weekend? Or bridesmaids, have you ever been in a similar situation, and what did you do?!

Any ideas are much appreciated!! :)

  • I would appreciate a Mani/pedi.

  • Booze is always a perfect gift.

  • PPs all have great ideas.  You are so sweet for thinking of your friend!

If there's a Massage Envy or some other spa near her, you could arrange for a massage.  Or send her a little care package with her favorite magazines, some booze or her favorite drink, bath salts, etc.

  • As the old lady in this group, I am surprised that I am suggesting the tech idea, but can't somebody Skype you so you can make a toast? Maybe pre-arrange a bottle of wine or champagne.

Ehh, I think this is a sweet idea in theory, but could make OP out to look like an AW.

I love the idea of having a bottle of champagne or a round of drinks set up at the bar they are going to! The fiance of a friend did this for his bachelor party and I was so jealous I didn't think of it myself. The guys rolled up to the brewery and the bartender brought out flights for everyone, on her. They were soooo impressed.

    Yeah, this is awkward.

I think a mani/pedi appointment on you and/or a round of drinks are great ideas though!

I've been an OOT bridesmaid a couple times; if I didn't contribute to the shower costs, I usually have just bought something off the registry and sent it to a BM's house to take along. For a bachelorette, I sent silly lingerie and a bottle of rumchata (this bride's favorite) to another BM who was kind enough to bring the gifts and a card from me.

If she's staying a hotel at some point for one of the parties, you could have the hotel send up food (breakfast the next day!?) or drinks too.

  • I had a destination B-party, and two of my four bridesmaids were unable to attend.  One of them was on an international work trip at the time...she had a bottle of champagne and some chocolates sent to our hotel room.  It was there when we checked in.  The other, who couldn't come because she has an infant at home, sent the BM that planned it some cash to buy a round of drinks.  Of course i wish they were there, but stuff happens...i didn't expect people to fly in from China or travel several states away from their infant just to come to a party.  Your friend will understand.  If you want to send her a gift, i'm sure she will be happy about whatever you decide to go with.  :-)
