You're all terrible influences

I'm now stalking my registries, something that hadn't occurred to me until I read about it here. My shower is next weekend and I'm worrying that the registry is too small!

We registered for a bunch of individual All Clad pots and pans and most of those are gone. I'm shocked that the expensive things are going but the smaller stuff hasn't been touched. Though I fully assume no one will buy the crazy expensive stuff like Le Creuset.

Who else can "blame" knotties for bad behavior?!

  • I was shocked at how early the super $$$ went. I never thought people would be that generous :)

  • Another stalker here. Some of the small things never got bought but my full set of fine china did!

Knotties are also to blame for me wanting to buy some really expensive shoes and makeup too. :)

  • I stalked my registry, but it was boring because I didn't have a shower and live across the country from where my wedding was so very few things were bought. A couple of my married friends got together and made a goodie basket with all the small things like spatulas, measuring spoons, whisks, because all the big things went off their registries and no one ended up getting them all the cheap kitchen accessories that were left.

  • I totally registry stalk. My shower is in 2 weeks and so far my grill (!!!), pots and pans, sheets, panini maker, and ridiculously soft faux fur throw blanket have been purchased.

I just finished stalking my registry right before I saw this. Shower isn't until 9/6, but invites went out a week ago and you never know who wants to go shopping early! So far only our camo bedding (yes, camo. I am an amazing fiance and "but I let you have camo bedding" is going to be my excuse for everything) has been purchased.

It is going to be so hard to unwrap gifts at my shower and not use them until we're married!

I'm with you! This is mostly upgrades for us but I'm already gawking at this beautiful All-Clad pan sitting in the living room! I may have started perusing the cookbooks...

  • I looked once but no one's bought anything. I didn't have a shower and I have a feeling no one even knows we have a registry. It's no big deal to me because we have everything we need. Except the rice cooker. That is the only wedding gift I want. I can make rice on the stove so it seems like a luxury and I can't bring myself to purchase one. It's only like $30, I'm just that cheap.
  • I'm a total registry stalker too, but that preceded my time on TK. Y'all just validated my baser instincts.

@Senecaf - rice cookers are the best! I had a Chinese exchange student as a roommate for a few months in grad school and he left me with his when he moved back. It was amazing! I don't think I could go back to life without one.

I can blame knotties for my excessive Computer time. I've never been on the computer this much unless it was work or school related. Then I realized how awesome and amazing talking to everybody was. Especially on the more active boards like Chit Chat and Etiquette.

Don't have a registry yet, but I know I will be stalking once I make one.

  • Oh yes, I'm terrible about registry stalking. In my defense though our apartment concierge never notifies us when we have packages. So if I didn't stalk it, we might have packages sitting there for weeks.

And I've been so surprised about what has been purchased so far; the Waterford crystal toasting flutes and the wine fridge were among the most expensive things on our list and we've already gotten them. Our friends and family are so lovely to do this for us!
  • I tell myself that I check to see if items have gone out of stock or are discontinued...so it doesn't count as stalking right? And we're both students and have schedules where we can be working from home if need be so that packages aren't left out on our stoop. So that's totally legit and not really stalking ;) I was shocked to see that the teapot, sugar bowl and creamer from our fine china set were some of the first things to get purchased!
  • Rice cookers are supposed to be one of the most economical "single use kitchen appliances" money can buy. We are actually registered for an upgrade because after 6 years of hard use (1-2x a week while I was in school), my old one is in need of replacing. Big tip: DO NOT use metal spoons to get the rice out. Of course most of you are probably thinking well of course not, but I did this until I knew better and now the poor thing is scratched and rusted!

That's so sad! I've found that they last 5-7 years if you use them heavily. The best tend to be those made for the Asian market- the cookers we buy at the Asian grocery stores always last longer than those we've bought at Target. (My dad, sister and I compare notes.)

  • I'm still stalking my registry, and I am married. Lol.  For my purposes, though, it's what should we complete next, off our registry. I have decided to only complete the casual dinnerware and the towels, until we have more savings.  It is, still,  fun to figure out what you will be getting next!
  • I could see that. We've already decided that our Target completion discount gets put to work on Black Friday.

Yep, doing lots of plotting with the completion discount and gift cards. All our GCs so far are to Target so we were going to use them all toward a grill, but FI's grandma gave us (read: him) a Lowe's GC at the shower so now that will be for the grill. That means I get to play with the Target money!
