What date? The 13th?

Alright, so this should not be so difficult, but it is. I finally decided on a venue and was told they had June 13 and 20 open. Well two days later they had booked my first date choice, June 13. So I had the choice of May 16 or June 20. I went with May 16 because spring is my favorite time of year and it will get the wedding over sooner, however it is more likely to be cooler and rain in VA. Well right as the lady sends my contract she said June 13 opened up again because that couple moved to May. I had already set my mind on May 16, but now the June 13 opens up again...and then someone had to mention something about it being the 13th and my anniversary will be on Friday the 13th every 6 years blah blah.... I don't know what to do. I am generally not superstitious. It will be warmer then. What date would you take?

And you didn't look at them like they're the dumbest person on earth?  Or at least give them a pat on the head accompanied by "bless your heart"?

If June 13 was originally your first choice, I'd go with that, FWIW.
  • Haha, thank you. That makes me feel a lot better! I mean it never even crossed my mind till they mentioned it. I just don't want to hear people saying anything about it being the 13th... I need to think of a good response. I feel like maybe it is meant to be that the others changed there date and I got my first pick.
  • OP, our wedding date is September 13th.  It's a Saturday this year, but we too will have Friday-the-13th-anniversaries.  I'm not superstitious about anything... but I am a major triskaidekaphiliac.  No one has mentioned to us yet about it being lucky or unlucky, except for my parents, who agree that the 13th is going to be a very lucky day :)

I'd say, go with June 13th, since that's what you originally picked.

  • We also got married on the 13th, and also had somebody tell us what a bad choice it was because it would be Friday the 13th every seven years.

We went with the ides of march just so we could overthrow tyranny or some such. It's a day, people need to quit being silly.
  • I have a Friday the 13th birthday every so often, and I'm still alive, so it can't be that bad.
  • I'm getting married on Friday the thirteenth(February).
everyone says the same thing - 'oh you must not be superstitious then', i say 'no we're not', then they either ask more wedding questions or talk about something else.

If someone says 'oh you'll have friday the thirteenth anniversaries', just say 'yes we will'.

    Don't indulge the silly.
