Return address on envelope flap

Quick question: what is the proper etiquette for the return address printed on the envelope flap of invitations/STDs?

Do you provide just the address and omit any names? Or do you include a name? I think that names are usually omitted, but I wanted to double check before placing an order.

I always include my name. Junk mail is so common nowadays that I feel better knowing they know it's from me and it's not one of those fake, invitation-style things from a car dealer or bank.

I don't know if this is just in my area, but a post office worker in New England told me that unless the return address is on the front with the sending address, they won't use the back so they treat it like it doesn't have a return address. Something to keep in mind.

I put address only on the back flap (we didn't want to use our names so my mother could continue to use the stamp post-wedding).

We got a couple returned to sender with zero issues. I see addresses on the back flap for all sorts of social mail.

This is good to know! And I do like the idea of using the address only so that any extras can be used after the wedding.

I also put ours on the back flap and have already had one returned because I totally screwed up the address (whoopsie doodle).

I did inlude our names, but it was just "Ashley & FIsFirstName", so we will still be able to use after the wedding.

Exact same experience here too. We used our first names and a c/o my mother because she was hosting and collecting the RSVPs.

I did this too. Just the address on the back flap. I had two invites returned to me (for incorrect addresses).

I did it on the back flap with just our first names, so we can use it post-wedding. Didn't have any issues with it.

That definitely isn't true here. I had one and only one invitation not make it to the person we sent it to - because they moved without telling us their new address. We put our return information on the back, and the unopened invitation was dropped back in our mailbox a week later.

We - ok, I - wrote our address (no names) on the back flap of every invite and have had no issues so far. They have been out for about a week and we haven't had any come back yet. When I took our sample invite to the post office,they didn't mention the return address placement as an issue at all.

ETA: I have had 2 invites returned since I posted this, so the return address on the back flap does work.

I had my first name and FI's first name with our address on the back flap of the envelope. We used an embosser. I didn't add my last name so we can still use it after the wedding. There was one wedding invitation where mislabeled the address and it did get returned to me.

The diy invite kit I bought came with a template for envelopes. It allowed me to print the guests names (and ours) directly onto the envelope. Since I used a Calligraphy font, it looked like I had paid someone to do the addressing. This also allowed me to print our names (we hosted) on the front of the envelope like you would for a normal letter. I only had to run envelopes through the printer once then which saved me time.
