RSVP

I have received 3 wedding invites the year (1 from a friend, 1 from a coworker, 1 from a family member) and they didn't include ANY RSVP information. nothing on the invite and no RSVP card. only 1 of them sent a save the date. I checked that and nothing front or back about RSVP. my wedding is in 2 months, and I can't imagine not having an RSVP count. Is this a new trend? am I just old fashion?

Are they complete wedding invitations?  Are you being invited to both the ceremony and reception?  I ask because there are some brides that send out tiered invitations; some people are invited only to the "dance" portion of the program.  In that case, no RSVP would be necessary.

What time is the reception?  If the reception is mid-afternoon, perhaps a couple is serving light refreshments, cake, and beverages.  They also might not feel the need for an exact count.

I would personally call to clarify the situation.  I sure would want to know whether I can expect a meal or other refreshments.

Actually, they are the ones who are old fashioned.  This notion of providing you with the RSVP card is a relatively new invention.

Traditionally, guests knew how to RSVP without being provided a card.  You should mail back a note saying whether you will attend.
  • You know, some people don't have any consideration to respond to a RSVP ... I hate that... So, maybe they just figured, no one would respond anyway... I don't know, but I will be putting one in with my invitations
