07/08/14 Reviews: The Plaza Chapel, Hash House A Go Go, Beauty by Bri, and more!

edited August 2014 in Nevada-Las Vegas
Sorry it took so long to getting around to do my reviews! Everything went perfect on my day and I have almost no complaints. I rarely see brides on here getting married on Fremont St, so I figured my reviews would be appreciated :). I did not do anything super fancy, but it was perfect for us! I am sad that it is all over though..

Beauty by Bri: A+....She was amazing! I had talked to her prior to the wedding several times and her communication was great! I sent her many ideas that I had, and she was quick to shoot back suggestions right away and ways that we could make it work even better than what I was thinking. She showed up a little early and got right to work. Both of my bridesmaids got their hair done, and I got both hair and makeup done. She did give me 10% off for paying for everyone upfront when I booked her, but I don't know if that was just a special she had going on at the time. Everyone looked beautiful and my hair stayed through the night. She arrived at 1030am and we finished about 1pm. The wedding was at 2.

Golden Nugget: A...Even though we were married at the Plaza we stayed here. We stayed in the Carson Tower Rooms (the cheapest ones lol) and they were nice! The bed was sooooo comfortable. They were pretty spacious as well. We always had people coming in and out. Also, we had about 12 rooms since most of our guests stayed here and they were great about getting our rooms close by. There were some that had to rooms on different floors, but most of us got the same floor! I really liked everything about this hotel. The restaurants and bars had great happy hours, we ate at Claim Jumper a couple times just because they were really great at accommodating large groups at last minute and there was something on their menu for everyone. The pool was awesome! Kids loved it! Our group didn't have many huge gamblers, but we all played quite a bit and most people did good here!

The Plaza Wedding Chapel: B+...From the beginning my coordinator was great! She responded very quickly, allowed me to change and customize the packages a little, and just really took care of everything! They have a bridal room so she made sure everyone was out of sight while I got in the room. She kept asking if I needed anything, while she was running around doing a million things! Also, my fingers were swollen from the heat so she brought me a bucket of ice before the ceremony, life saver! lol. My bouquet was very pretty (included in the package). They also had a bottle of champagne in the bridal room, so that helped calm the nerves a little. Everything and anything I needed she definitely took care of for me, and I was very thankful. Also, as soon as you go in the doors to the plaza you take a left and the escalators right there lead you straight to the chapel! Very convenient location! I would recommend to anyone to chose here, I loved it! The chapel is pretty well decorated so there wasn't a need for that. The aisle is lined with candles in a lantern lit which was very pretty!

Hash House A Go Go Plaza Location- A....I LOVED it here! I have eaten at the Hash House in San Diego, so I kind of new what to expect. They did make us pick from a pre set menu, which kind of sucked but it did have a variety of breakfast and lunch entrees. They were great at accommodating to the children and people with other specialties such as vegetarians and food allergies. They let them chose off of the regular menu so that made me happy. All of our food tasted great, nobody ordered anything they did not like. The portions, like always, were huge and definitely wow'd our guests! Peoples phones were flashing all over the place they were all taking pics lol. Our menu also included soft drinks, tea, or coffee which was great. The waitresses told guests that alcohol was not included (we did not have it in the budget) and they did not have a problem with this. At the end of the night, our bill came out a lot cheaper than we thought it would so we were able to pick up the tab on alcohol also! They have buckets of beer 5 for $15 and you can mix and match so a lot of guests either ordered those and shared or got margaritas. We were in a semi private room, but the room felt very private to the restaurant. It is an open wall with a gate though facing out to the casino floor on the other side. We had people walking by all the time congratulating us. Only thing that could have been better was communication. It did take a while for them to respond to questions. Overall I am really glad we chose to do it here. It is literally right at the bottom of the escalators coming down from the wedding chapel, so that was perfect!

Las Vegas Wedding Wagon - A....This couple was amazing! When we first decided on a Vegas wedding, we were going to do insuite. We had booked with the Wedding Wagon pretty early on. Even though we could have gotten a refund, we decided to go ahead and use them! They were also great during communication! It included photos and they came out really good actually! I bought most of them. They were quick and easy and to the point. The ceremony went perfect. :)

Elite Transportation: A+...They were absolutely amazing! Made me a great deal, were very open to listening to all of my questions and concerns, and got back with me quickly! We have a party bus, not limo because of our group size but OMG it was so fun. This and Hash House are what my guests are still talking about. They music was blasted, neon lights flashing, and there was a flatscreen TV playing music videos along with the music! Our driver was awesome and he had fun with us. We went from Fremont to the Las Vegas sign and we were there for a while. Then we needed more alcohol and a bathroom so he knew a great place to stop that we were in and out! Back down the strip to fremont and that was about all we had time for in 2 hours.

Retro Bakery- B+...I really loved how easy it was to order through them. I decided on cupcakes instead of cake since everyone was leaving the next morning, I figured those would be easier for everyone to grab a couple and it was! The flavors were great! I do have to say though, that they were kind of dry. Also, they were a little cool, and the frosting was pretty hard from being cold. A lot of people just scraped some off and went on with their cupcake, so it would out fine. The flavors were awesome, they tasted soooo good lol. They also delivered straight to Hash House, so that was convenient!

For our favors we used some of the stuff that we ordered for free through the convention center (I think that's where it was from, I honestly cannot remember off the top of my head). So we used the keychains, pins, and pens that we got. We also ordered Las Vegas shot glasses from a souvenir shop online, added a $5 playing chip for the Golden Nugget Casino, and a mini bottle of Kinky. So at the table after we finished eating, everyone did a shot! That was so fun. Then we walked over and played our chips! :) The guests thought those were the coolest favors.

My dress was a David's Bridal Dress that I bought used and made some alterations. We really stuck to just keeping things simple and fun and I am so glad that we did. Our guests really loved and appreciated everything that we did for them and everything just went so smoothly! I am so happy to be married to my best friend, and we didn't run into any problems in the process! Hope this helps someone out there :) Enjoy planning ladies!!

  • Your welcome! She was really awesome. I was afraid of it being really awkward lol but she made it really comfortable and we just laughed the whole time :)
  • Great reviews, thank you! Congratulations!!! :)
  • So you used Wedding Wagon and the Plaza Chapel?  Did the Wedding Wagon people marry you there?  I'm confused...

Sounds like you had a great time though!
  • Yeah, I didn't understand how the Wedding Wagon people came into play unless it was for photos.  Interested to hear what exactly they did.

Thank you for the reviews sam!  Glad your day was so much fun and you and your guests enjoyed it so much.  I really liked the Hash House review.  We're thinking about having a group brunch there one morning so it's great to know that everyone in your group really loved it.

    Congratulations!

  • Yeah the Plaza Chapel will bring in a minister for you if you want, but you don't have to use theirs since they are just hired per event. I didn't save any money on my package for not using whoever they use, but I was fine with that since I already had the wedding wagon booked. The Wedding Wagon will marry you anywhere and they have done ceremonies in chapels before as well so they were totally fine with it and I am so glad we went with them! Hash house was so much fun, and the guests really had a blast! It was a great time all around in Vegas. Thank you!
