STD....need to show face or no?

I am looking at designs for my Save the Date and two of my favorite e-pictures that I want to use on the STDs are ones where my face is not showing. I've gotten some feedback that I need to show my face since I am the bride, but I really don't mind because I like the pictures that much. I also want to do something different, but if showing my face is something that is strongly recommended then I may reconsider. I just want to know any reasons why it might be better to show my face?

What is the general idea for showing/not showing faces on a Save the Date? Thanks for any feedback:)

Re: STD....need to show face or no?

  • Nope. I just need your name, date, and wedding location.

If it's a gorgeous picture (and now I just want to see!) and you love it, go for it. Save the Date's don't have to have a picture at all!

  • It's not a requirement.

That said, if I had not met you yet I would be disappointed.  I would be thinking "what is with this picture?  It's like a tease.  I wanted to see her face."  Ha.    What can I say?  I want to see the face of my friend/cousin/whatever.

Not a deal breaker by any means, just personal preference IF there is a picture at all.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Agree with PPs. But I also want to see this picture.
  • Names, date, City of wedding, and "Formal invitation to follow."

  • I love both of them! I agree that either one is perfectly fine.
  • Those are fine.   It thought you meant  it was a close up of the back of your head or something.

  • That dock photo is like the ideal pic for a STD postcard from vistaprint - IMHO :-D
Put your names, date, city and invitation to follow on the back and you're good to go!
So postcard worthy...it's a great photo!

  • both of these are gorgeous!!  Go with what you like :)
  • I think your photos are gorgeous! With that said...I did make a point to choose a photo for my STD with both of our faces showing and looking at the camera. Some of our guests haven't met one of us (FI's family friends for example haven't met me, and some of mine haven't met him) but I don't think it's really a big deal. This is the one we picked for our STDs. I had sooo many gorgeous options, and plenty like yours too without faces showing, so it was a tough decision.

  • thanks everyone:) the responses have really helped! and I appreciate the sweet comments:))

    @photokitty good idea! thx

@LaPeanut1018 good point and something to think about! gorgeous photos by the way!
  • You guys are so cute!
  • Our STD had a Delorean on it. We were no where to be found. So by that standard, I think a far away shot is fine.
