Wedding Woes

Morning

How was the weekend? Pretty good here. Saturday we took max for his first haircut then went fishing. Do grilled out and made sweet potato salad. Sunday dh took the kids to the park and I tried to do a little shopping. Then I chopped and chopped and made a huge pot of salsa. I've got enough veggies for when the next 3 pounds of tomatoes come in....probably by Wednesday. I also booked our first ever family photo shoot. I'm excited but am keeping my expectations low. 6let is already being a but thread about what he wants to wear.

I swear I hit return in there. Also, I talked to my friend last night. She's the one with the very troubled daughter and now a granddaughter. Lots of shit has happened. Most of it summed up in the fact that one night daughter snuck out of the house. Friend had no idea daughter was gone until she got up for work. Daughter finally shows up on the back porch wearing nothing but rain boots and a pair of underwear. Daughter was effed up on goodness knows what. Girl is off her meds and friend is now looking into her rights and options.
  • Oh, 6.  That's awful about your friend's situation.

Weekend was good.  I went dress shopping on Saturday with sister, mom, one SIL and sister's BFF.  She found the dress!  It's awesome.  We also picked out the BM dress.  I'm in love with both dresses.  The beebee in me is sad that dress shopping is over.

Today is Son's first day of 8th grade.
  • That's terrible for your friend, 6.  I hope she can figure out what she can do for her daughter and granddaughter.

Weekend was good, crazy.  We went to Chicago for a reception for my cousin and his wife, dinner at my aunt's house, and then a baby shower brunch yesterday for my uncle and his wife.  Only DefConn and I went, as DH had to work and the kiddo stayed home with him.  Sharing a hotel bed with a 3 year old does not make for much sleep.  I woke up so stiff yesterday.  I was in bed before 10pm last night.

Family time was good.  My family is as kooky as ever.  Everyone loved seeing DefConn and he was sweet and cute with all of them.

ugh, I can't even imagine re: friend.

I lost a lot of this weekend to unexpected migraine, but the timing could have been worse.  I took good meds Thursday night and got no sleep all night because Buffy has a cold and in her half-awake 2am state, she can't breath and flips the hell out.

Friday we didn't do much, Sat, was 'aviation field days' where we go look at planes.  we had a mini b-day party for my mom and then Buffy went home w/ them while I got to go to a store alone (which was a bust, but, eh).
I was supposed to go to the family reunion w/ the fam yesterday but I called and asked them to go w/o me--so I spent the day in and out of bed doing nothing and being miserable.
Mostly better now though, I think
  • 6-that's terrifying and I hope she figures out what is the best option for her and family.

Weekend was pretty good.  Friday H and I hung out with one of his coworker's and her daughter who has some crazy neurological virus--it was nice to see them, have some pizza and beers.

Saturday morning (running excitement-warning) I got up and laced up and went 14 miles with my Dad.  That went so well, I pretty much coasted through the rest of my day because of it.  H and I wandered around in the evening and he had to go to work at 00:00-04:00 on Sunday morning.

Sunday got up and ran a really slow run with a group, that helped save my legs.  Sunday was more of nothing---my house still isn't clean.

Had dinner with my parents and gma, and I nearly walked out of the restaurant b/c my gma is a horrible person.  I just can't sometimes...but I hadn't driven so I couldn't walk out.  I then went home and drank beers with the neighbor, it was nice---though today I'm a little crunchy.
  • Ugh, 6, that's terrible and scary as hell.  GBCK, I feel Buffy's pain.  I'm 37 years old and will still have a mild freakout when I can't breathe from a cold.

We didn't do much of anything.  Friday night we went and gamed with some friends.  Stayed home the rest of the weekend.  I did laundry and that's about it.
  • My DS and I went to KY to help sort things in my grandparents house. It went pretty well, my aunt was annoying and thought she was supposed to have it all her way, but we expected that. My mom and uncle outvoted her when necessary and let her think she won on the stuff we didn't care about anyway. The only snake we saw was a baby my son ran over while backing the trailer up to the door, the rest of its family thankfully didn't show themselves. We were worried, there has been a record number of copperheads there this summer.

    copperheads freak me out.
(I'm not anti snake I just am used to living where the wildlife can't really kill me)
  • We had a busy weekend with family gatherings.

Saturday my aunt and uncle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a big party.  There was a band and a mock wedding (a MN thing, maybe?).  My 93 & 87 yr old great aunts were dancing.  A good time was held by all.

Sunday was a family picnic on dh's side.  Lots of good food and visiting.  That evening we got heavy rain and had 2.5 inches in the rain gauge this morning!

  • Oh and despite the party and picnic, I was able to navigate my food choices, so that was good.
