Back from vacation!

Hey, everyone!

I forgot to actually say goodbye before I left on Friday last week. I spent the week in Nova Scotia with J and his extended family. I had a nice time (it's only my second year going on the trip), and I worried a whole lot less this year. But there were irritating points. Sharing a room with his brother and sister-in-law, having to sleep on a twin-sized top bunk, sharing a bathroom with six other people and having to conserve water, etc. It was also cold a lot, so we had limited beach time, and one of our hikes was a little rainy. All in all, it was nice and relaxing, but I am thrilled to be home. We're already unpacked and showered, with sushi on the way, and I'm ready to get back into the swing of things.

How is everyone? What have I missed around the boards? (I know that I've missed a lot in general--a couple of celebrity deaths :(:(:(, a state of emergency in Ferguson MO, and lots of ice bucket challenges.)

Re: Back from vacation!

  • I'm glad you had fun, even with the rain and the interesting sleeping arrangements. I bet it was gorgeous out there!

I was on vacation last week too, so I'm attempting to read through some of the threads. Look like we missed an eventful week.

  • Welcome back, @Phira and @eilis1228! Phira, that sounds like an amazing trip, but sharing space with that many people sounds exhausting. But it seems like you made the most of it and had fun regardless.
  • Welcome back! The sleeping and bathroom situations sound miserable. I'm glad you had an overall good time!

Not too much going on here. I finally got my ankle injury sorted and it's not as bad as my doctor initially thought so I just have to wear a sexy boot for 4 weeks and go to physical therapy for 8 weeks. But yay for no surgery!

  • I've always wanted to visit that area!!!  the sleeping/bathroom arrangements would have a little awkward for me too.  I love going on vacation, but coming home is just awesome.

I still love your e-pics/sig photo, BTW!
  • Welcome back. Those irritations sound irritating LOL. Glad you were able to make the best of it and are happily home!

Only thing you missed with me was BF getting shitfaced and proposing.. then getting sober and having a conversation about it. It was annoying and hurtful, but we did have a great talk and he embarrassingly apologized. We talked more about it this weekend and he told me he is full force going into this but he wants it to be a complete surprise and told me it can happen in a week or a month but it's coming. I am SO excited but trying SO HARD to not let BSC come around.

So nothing really new with me....

  • I went on SO's family trip last week too!

When we arrived at the house (the day after everyone else), SO's grandma told us we would be sleeping on an air mattress in his parents' room!  That ended up not being the case, thankfully...  They're nice people, but I've still only seen them maybe 6 times or so, so we're not close.  At least not bunking up close! ;-)

You are a trouper to get through a week!

  • Thanks everyone!

@Swazzle Thank goodness for no surgery!

@LaPeanut1018 I said this in the chat thread but eeeeeeeee, you're getting so close!

@CocoBellaF Aww, thanks :) And yeah, even when I have a good vacation, I'm always happy to come home. I miss my own bed and having my entire wardrobe to choose from. There was a snafu with the water in the cottage towards the end of the week, so we weren't able to do a load of laundry. J and I had to get super creative to make our clothes last the rest of the week. I was just relieved I brought enough underwear.

@caseface5 AHHHH oh my god that is absolutely ridiculous. I'm glad that things are sorted out, and we'll try to distract you so you don't get too BSC. Also, dying over your new sig gif.

@alucky23 I'm glad you didn't have to bunk up with SO's parents! J hinted that his parents might take the bunk room with us and his brother and sister-in-law would take his parents' usual room. There are legit reasons they might have done that, but I was really doubtful. And, fortunately, I was correct. I like my future parents-in-law a lot, but ... if I'm not going to have any privacy, I'd prefer to have no privacy among my peers.

  • Welcome back, those sleeping arrangements sound bad and all, but I might've struggled with the shared bathroom even more... I get major potty anxiety :)
