loving Ford, who knew!

Back story:  Our house has two doors, one that is on the side and opens to the driveway.  The other is in the front of the house that opens onto the lawn.  We have used that door once in the year that we have lived there, in the spring when they painted the porch/steps of the door at the driveway.  My landlord had an asphalt company come yesterday to lay a new driveway, so I had to use the front door to walk the dog after work.

I open the door to take him out and there was a Fedex envelope in between the screen and storm door.  When I opened it I learned that Ford apparently inaccurately rated the MPGs on my Energi lease.  As an act of good faith, they gave me information about the new ratings and a check. . . . . . for $850!!!!!

Apparently that represents the difference by whatever calculations they use.  I'm sorry, my life is effected in no way by whether my car gets 100 or 88 MPG if I run it on only electric power, because I don't.....I use the hybrid aspect of it too.

Yay Ford!!!!!! and Yay to my landlord, because I never would have found that envelope otherwise.  We don't get mail delivery at the house, and I didn't know it was coming to look out for it.

  • That's awesome! Extra, unexpected money is the best.
  • LOL! That's a "please don't sue us" check. There was that class action suit around the CMax and I think the focus where they overstated the mpg and it bit them in the ass.

    That's awesome though!

  • Ditto @southernbelle0915.   That's Ford's way of asking you not to sue them because they used a completely incorrect calculation when estimating the MPG of their vehicles.

BUT, as long as you're not contemplating contacting an attorney, hooray money!!
  • Maybe it's because i'm an attorney but I am so not sue-happy.  I suffered no loss, so I wouldn't bother bringing suit. I actually find it really, really obnoxious when people want to sue for every little thing.  I will gladly cash their check though!
  • Well, the issue is that if you bought the car based on the estimates then you're spending far more on gas then you originally thought.

It's not nearly as bad as GM's ignition issue but it's still totally shady.

I get that, but as someone who doesn't only drive under 20 miles at a time on the electric charge, as someone who utilizes the hybrid feature too, what is my actual loss.  $20 per year, maybe?

It's good that you're not, but for some reason, America has become a sue-happy culture where it's almost like people are looking to spill coffee on themselves or slip on the grocery store floor.... Ridiculous. Sounds like Ford knows the terrain and is trying to avoid another law suit. I'd happily cash that check too!!
