Sedona Wedding Review- 6/9/12

This is going to be long, but we had a lot of great vendors who came together to make an amazing wedding!

Venue- Sedona Rouge- A

I loved our venue, and we received a ton of compliments on it. The view from the Alhambra Courtyard and the Rooftop Terrace, where we held our rehearsal dinner and cocktail hour, is amazing. I loved that we could do it all on-site and yet there were so many different areas to utilize that it kept everything changing up, and guests said there was a really good flow to everything. Food was great, service was amazing! The only hitch we had was that we were told the bar on site would stay open after the reception, as we had a large party crowd, but it did not. The hotel made up for it by paying cab fare for the guests to go to a nearby bar, but that was still a bummer. Overall, I would highly recommend the Rouge for a gorgeous Sedona wedding.

DJ- Richard with Got You Covered Entertainment- A-

Richard was awesome. He was great at our pre-wedding meeting and great at the wedding. Very energetic, had great ideas for ways to get the crowd going but respected our requests to not do any cheesy games. The only reason I took him down to an A- is because communication was a bit off beforehand, I had some complaints from my DOC and venue coordinator that he didn’t return emails. But I would still 100% recommend him.

DOC- Sweet Soiree- Nikki Laing- A+

I cannot say enough good things about Nikki. We chose her because our photogs recommended her, her rates were reasonable, and she was great at the consultation. She turned out to be the best investment we could make. She was on top of it with all of our vendors from the day we hired her and just a blessing to have on the day of. I am a total control freak but I was able to just relax and enjoy the day with her on board. On top of that, she’s just one of those people who is so much fun to hang out with. Biggest favor you could do yourself is to hire her!

Photographers- Sierra Blanco- Tina, Kevin, and Angie- A+

These guys are great. We were so overwhelmed by all the choices in photogs out there, but they were recommended to us by a friend. When we checked them out online their pics were just as amazing as the ridiculously high-priced photogs, but at a much better rate. Also, they allow us to have the rights to the pictures as part of the package price, so we don’t have to wait X amount of time and pay extra. They did our engagement shots by riding around with us in our Bronco through the mountains in Sedona. When we had to postpone our wedding, they were awesome about it, no extra charges or hassle. I didn’t even notice them at the ceremony or reception, they were like photog ninjas! Love them.

 Officiant- Shanandoah Sterling- A

Shanandoah is great. She definitely has that Sedona feel to her, but she tailors the ceremony to exactly what you ask for. Her prices are more than fair, and attending the rehearsal is included. She was super organized and great about being very involved.

 Jeweler- Cornelis Hollander- A+

My ring is stunning. It is a custom creation and I am obsessed with it. Cornelis and his staff are so friendly, and all of his designs are very unique and modern. I was looking for something that didn’t look like every other ring out there, and when I spotted one of his designs on someone, I knew it was perfect.

Cake and cake pops- Sedona Sweet Arts- Donna Joy- B

I must point out that everything tasted and looked awesome. That is definitely not a problem. However, she wasn’t the best at correspondence. Also, we had specifically said that we wanted blue ribbon on the cake and no greenery, or at least as little as possible. The ribbon was a different color and there was a lot of greenery. Obviously not details that make or break a wedding, but if I’m going to grade everyone on the same curve, I have to grade them lower than other vendors. But we did get a lot of compliments on the cake pops they made for favors.

Florist- Events by Showstoppers- Jim and Ken- B

At first, we weren’t going to go with these two as their contract came off a little controlling and over the top. But we had huge communication problems with another florist in Sedona so we went back for a consult with these two and they were so nice and really, their designs are amazing. My bouquet and the bridesmaid bouquets were gorgeous, just what I asked for. The centerpieces, however, were not exactly what we expected. We had definitely specified to use only red flowers, and yet there was a lot of blue. Our colors were aqua and red, so that’s probably why they thought they should incorporate the blue, but it didn’t match our aqua and so to me, it looked off. But like the cake, nobody else would have noticed, and it was all still very pretty. And their communication is stellar, which is important to me.

Dress and Alterations- Destiny’s Bride- A

I received so many compliments on my dress, it was my favorite detail of my wedding. Paloma Blanca style 4116. Zoe was my consultant at Destiny’s and she was awesome. So patient with me as I went back and forth. She even recognized my voice whenever I called in! I got my alterations done there as well by Rose and her assistant. Again, awesome. They were even pickier than I would have been, and made sure it fit like a glove. It was a pretty heavy strapless dress, and it felt comfortable all night long- I never wanted to take it off!

 Hair/Makeup- Chic Salon- A

We had a few different stylists here; Isaac, Jerry, and Ron. They were all great. Since I had 7 bridesmaids we basically took over their salon for a few hours. They let us bring in mimosas and helped us order lunch for everyone. My hair and makeup lasted all night, and all of my girls looked gorgeous. Jerry was my stylist, and I would highly recommend him.

Bridesmaid Dresses- Brides by Demetrios- A-

The service here was great, and they had the largest selection of anywhere we looked. The dresses were gorgeous, and the alterations were quick and the dresses fit the girls beautifully. I dropped the grade to an A- only b/c their alterations prices were a bit crazy to me, and the dresses definitely did not look pressed when we picked them up like had been promised.

Tuxes- Wedding Accessory Superstore- B

We went with WAS b/c they rented dark grey tuxes, which for some reason we couldn’t seem to find elsewhere. Their prices were ok, and the guys looked great at the end of the day. However, there was a lot of confusion with the orders. Thankfully the guys went in to try them on, because a lot of them didn’t fit and had to be re-ordered. The WAS ended up having to deliver some of them up to Sedona the day of, which is great that they did, but super stressful that they had to.

Stationary- Be In Love Designs- A

We had our invites, programs, and escort cards all done through the same company, which was great in order to have everything coordinating. All the products we received were great, the prices seemed really fair, and the service was quick.

Linens/Dance Floor- Verde Valley Rentals- A

Verde Valley had the best prices around, and their location was handy b/c the delivery charge to Sedona was minimal compared to using Phoenix companies. They were always friendly, prompt, and everything was correct. Having the specialty linens really added to the décor.

Pink Jeep Tours- A

We organized a Pink Jeep tour for our guests for the day before our wedding as a way to see Sedona. Everyone we dealt with there was great. They were flexible in our changing numbers and in accepting different forms of payment. Kori was very patient in explaining the different tours and working with me on the budget and timing. All the guests who went had a great time and got amazing pictures.
