"Aunt of the Bride"

I need some insight,

My Mom passed a little over a year ago. Since then, my Aunt (Mom's sister) has stepped in to help me through the wedding process from the night I got engaged! I want her to have some sort of "title" to honor her stepping in and standing by my side during the loss of my Mom (her sister) and the wedding planning process...

The only way I can say it is calling her the "Aunt of Honor" or "Aunt of the Bride" ...I don't know...what do you think?

Re: "Aunt of the Bride"

  • P.S.

I'd like for her to process down the aisle (as the Mother of the Bride would) and sit in the front.

  • I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. I would do the following to honor your aunt: - get her a corsage - seat her in the front row at the ceremony - sit her in a good spot at the reception - write her a heart felt letter about how much you appreciate her You can make her part of the procession and list her in the program if you want but I would tread carefully on making it look like you're trying to fill in your mom's space.

    ^^^Good words!

I agree.  Since it wasn't that long ago that your mother passed away, it might make both your aunt as well as anyone else who was close to your mother uncomfortable if you overdo here.

  • There is no substitute when a close relative dies.  Please do not try to fill your late mother's place at your wedding.  It will be painful and uncomfortable for many of your guests, including your aunt.

Other posters have given good ideas about honoring your aunt.  You are so lucky to have her in your life.  Do the corsage, and seat her in front.
