Wedding Woes

Friday

What's on for the weekend? I let M2 talk me into taking them to the mall today.  I never thought I'd dread the mall.

I'm not sure what we're doing this weekend.  We've talked about a festival or a baseball game, but DH's grandfather is not doing well.  We'll be going to his hometown for at least one day to visit.

Re: Friday

  • Sorry to hear about grandpa.

DH has to work every day this weekend, so nothing big is planned.  He'll still be home at decent times, but it sucks that he doesn't have a day off during the long weekend.

Baseball has started back up again, so they have practice (DH is helping coach this new team - our friend is coaching Son again so we're happy about that).

I need to clean this weekend. I was hoping to have my Norwex stuff, but it looks like it's another weekend of old fashioned cleaning.  I am going to try to make some cleaners.
  • It's my birthday weekend so I have plans on Sat and Sun. I really just want to sleep the entire weekend, but doesn't look like it.

Sorry to hear about Mr.6's grandfather, 6.  :(

DD starts level 4 swim tomorrow, and then we have a neighborhood Labor Day pool party/potluck thing.  Seriously, this new neighborhood is so much more fun than our old one.  It's kind of retro, where you talk to all your neighbors, the kids ride bikes in a pack up and down the cul de sac, the kind of thing that I keep reading doesn't exist anymore.  Super thrilled for the kids (and Mr. Heff and me, for that matter) to be in that environment now.  Birthday party Sunday, which is also DS's last day of amoxicillin.  [yay flags] I dropped him at DC this a.m. with fingers crossed, so we'll see.
  • I have a bunch of school work to do. Lectures to watch, a paper due, shitloads of reading...

Husband's friends are coming over to play Magic on Sunday, so I'll probably just hole up in our room and study. I have Monday off, so more studying then, and on Tuesday, we have 75 patients while only having six nurses on staff. It's going to hell. Holidays are never worth taking off.

  • @6fsn, this is the homemade glass cleaner I use (the one w/cornstarch) and it is awesome.  I'll never buy Windex again:  http://www.crunchybetty.com/battle-of-the-homemade-glass-cleaners.  Actually, I use it on everything except wood.

We leave for camping in about five hours.  Maybe, we've still got some stuffs to do that DH is supposed to do.  I'm making myself assume he'll do them, correctly, and I won't starve.  If I DO starve, he's never going to hear the end of it.  :D
  • Finally Friday!?!?  About effing time!

*rolls neck*  I have the strangest headache...stupid.  My goal today (as it seems to have been all week) is to do as little as possible and get away with it.

H works all weekend, and our schedules are pretty much opposites of each other.  I get up tomorrow---run ridiculous miles, while H sleeps, I get to see him a few hours---he goes to work.  I sit at home like a loser.  ;)

Sunday---Run race in AM while H sleeps, we hang out---he goes to work...

    rinse, repeat

@VarunaTT- the norwex stuff will mean I never need glass cleaner again.  I need something to scrub my tub and I want to try to make laundry soap.
  • I made my own laundry soap for awhile.  I liked it alright, but after awhile, my whites didn't seem to be getting clean, they looked kind of dingy.  Plus I kinda hated the work it required, so I stopped.

AS far as scrubbing the tub, I just use baking soda.  I'll spray it down with white vinegar first if I have some hard to clean spots.  In making your own cleaners, vinegar is your BFF.
  • Sorry to hear about Mr6's grandfather :(

Well, yesterday's visit at the myelosuppression unit to see a coworker and seeing the other side of the data group was a semi-wash. Had a good visit with the coworker that ran long, and between that and a staff meeting, the data group got squeezed out. So I ended up roaming around a little to see some of the changes since I was last there.

Weekend: Errands, then hopefully try to have a semi- BBQ on Sunday...a few of DD's friends are coming over to play, along with their parents. Of course, it's got to thunderstorm all weekend. So we'll try outside play as much as reasonable, the BBQ can go under the carport...we'll figure something out.

Hoping on Monday to get house fix its done and trudge through the DVR backlog.

  • My DH is also working all weekend so not much going on here.  We have friends in town and are going out to dinner with them tonight for an early anniversary celebration (8 yrs on 9/2).  My sister is also supposed to come in tomorrow so I imagine I'll be doing somethings with family while DH works.  Otherwise it's sleeping in, laundry, cleaning and hanging out.

  • DS and I are heading back over to KY when he gets off work. I really thought I'd never go back but my mom and I both have more stuff we want from my grandparents house that I couldn't fit when I went a few weeks ago.  So back we go, I really think we pushed our luck with the snakes last time so I am dreading returning into storage trailer in the "holler".  Also my aunt thinks everything is hers so that's going to be fun to handle when my mom and uncle aren't there this time to run interferance.  My mom better appreciate this!

I barely recognize myself today I'm so domestic and earthy.  This morning I jarred 10 cups of tomato sauce (the only thing not from the garden was the olive oil).  I spent naptime working out and making my own soap.  I cleaned bathrooms. Then made up a balsamic vinegar red potato salad with green beans, corn, and tomatoes to go with my homemade black bean burgers for dinner tonight.

I also noticed that we didn't even fill up one trash can this morning and all my cooking scraps went to compost.

    WHO AM I?
