Decor?

Just curious what and how much décor you other ladies are using at your weddings?

Re: Decor?

  • I'm doing my own draping because there are a couple beat-up looking things at the venue that'll look nicer covered up.

I bought a ton of sheer curtains, and then a bunch of sheer drape-scarf things.
The DJ is going to have uplighting, so that'll be a nice feature.

We're also going to have extra cylinder vases with tea lights in floating holders, plus votives scattered all around, in addition to taller vases with big bursts of white spider mums all over the place.

The rest of the decor is on the tables. Ivory tablecloths, possible grey square overlays, various-sized cylinder vases with a green orchid in each, topped with a tea light in a floating holder. Plus votives. The centerpieces are going to be white spider mums, green orchids, and white calla lilies. The centerpiece vase will be placed on top of a painted-gold hexagon box to give it a little height.

  • I barely used any. The venue was decently nice as is and we wanted to spend money on more important stuff like booze and food.
We had simple centerpieces, that's about it.

  • Very, very little. We got married in my in-laws' backyard, which is naturally lovely. We had no ceremony decoration, other than the large Japanese maple and hydrangea that we got married in front of. For the reception, we hung globe lights among the trees and had rectangular tables with white cloths, brown craft paper runners, and wildflowers and candles in mixed jars. That's it!
  • We're doing centerpieces, FI is handcrafting a wooden crossword puzzle-type thing to hang on the wall because he is very attached to the idea, and our DJ will do uplighting. That's all.

I think decor in weddings is primarily the tables and what is on them.  We had silver chairs, gray linens, and white and silver plates.  We decorated with pink and white arrangements with a lot of greenery and some tables had silver lamps with gray shades.  There was a pink menu at each place setting and a pink table number.  I had candles of the tables without lamps.

Our ceremony arrangements- we had four- two went on top of a mantle (there were two fireplace mantles in the room) and the other two went on either side of the other fireplace.  On top of each mantle were tapered candles and our bouquets in vases.

We had an arrangement on the card table and the foyer.

We picked a beautiful venue that didn't need draping or anything like that.
  • Just the tables. Sheer colored overlays on the tables (alternating aqua and champagne), and a small cluster of mercury glass and clear glass vases, votive holders and taper candles. We'll have a few extra vases for the bar and cake table and that's about it. My venue has dark wood walls and lots of windows.

  • Other than centerpieces, candles, and some string lights & uplighting, we're really not doing much else. There are better things to spend money on (plus, we are DIYing everything, so less work for us).

  • Just our tables will have decoration. Painted wine bottles (black matte spray paint) with the table number painted on in white and then two small vases on either side - green apples in the vases and a white hydrangea stem in each. I'll also have a few small votive candles on each table as well. I may do a little vase of corks as well (winery wedding). White table clothes with navy blue overlays. Our ceremony space won't have any decoration - we're getting married in front of an edible garden with vines from the vineyard to the left and the sun setting behind us.
  • Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were in the same room. It was a beautiful lodge with 20 ft. ceilings with exposed wood beams so we didn't really need to decorate the room. Almost all of our decorations were on the tables. We did:

    • Orchid centerpieces with votive candle holders
    • Burgundy matte satin tablecloths w/ ivory lace overlays
    • Ivory lace bows on the chairs
    • flower arrangements in the restrooms
    • ice sculpture on the app table
    • orchids on the buffet
    • large floral arrangement next to the ice sculpture
    • organza swags pinned up with flower arrangements around the gift, cake, app, and escort card table
    • flower arrangements on the escort card table
    • a wine cork monogram on the gift table
    • two large arrangements on either side of the ceremony table that were hydrangeas with 8 ft. curly willow
    • large candle holders and a flower arrangement across the front of the sweetheart table
    • Floral and greenery arrangements inside and on the mantle of the fireplace where we took pictures
I think that was it, but wow that seems like a ton of stuff when I actually type it out.

  • Our ceremony and cocktail hr are on our venues flagstone patio outside, reception is inside all at the same venue. For decor I'm using:

    - 3 varying heights for submerged centerpieces containing white roses, calla lilies, and either snapdragons or gladiolus. With floating candles on top, gems on bottom, similar to photo.

    - vases with wooden branches with peony pomander balls hanging down.

    - I'm having a candy bar and had these made to go behind it. The paper fans on the wall. Made out of scrapbook paper.

-I also have yellow and grey chevron stripped straws.

-Yellow and grey bows made out of ribbon for the center aisle of chairs for the ceremony.

I think that's it so far. Most has been DIY minus the yellow and grey straws.

  • Here's a picture of my wedding day. Our venue had the tool with Christmas lights inside that are draped along the aisle, and the silk petals were theirs as well. We brought the lanterns and what I've been referring to as "flower balls" to the chapel. We also brought the flower petals that the flower girls dropped.
  • Here are the centerpieces. They were completely done by the venue, and were simple and pretty. I love how it looked in the reception area with all the candles.
