Wedding Woes

This discussion is closed my ass, when the hell did theknot start that game again? it's like DDing.

  • Maybe my reply wasn't clear @CBCK. I am talking about at like 9 pm at not not at 6:30/7. Can we please stop ganging up on me. This post was about a question and everyone is taking this WAY out of control. I thought these boards were for wedding woe questions and to gain some other knowledge on your questions relating to your wedding plans. But I see that this board is more about tearing people down (if you agree or if you don't agree with their question). Needless, to say I will never post on these boards again.
  • The best way to not hear what people say about your ideas is to 1-not ask them and 2-not continue reading once they have an opinion you disagree with.  Or quit trolling, whatever works :)
And I said nothing about the time, just the level of rudeness.  at 9pm, it's still rude to kick someone out of a party for something that's not an egregious offense.  You're allowed to think we're wrong about that...but we're allowed to think you're incredibly wrong about that and to say so.

  • Seriously. When did that become an option and how do you do it?
  • I'm pretty sure that's mod initiated.
  • ahhh--so that means I probably violated a new non-explicit rule in my C&P. Mea culpa, I'll wait for my banning But, regardless, it's kinda dumb because we'll just discuss it 'in theory' if it's an interesting topic, no? A spinoff of 'when is the last time you yelled at other people's kids?' sort of birdwalk is par for the course.
  • Perhaps @Peaseblossom55 will enlighten us?

I didn't think there was anything at all bad in there, but I may not be up on the current rules/T&C's.

*begins the "BRING BACK LADYBUG!" chant*
  • OP requested the thread to be closed.

    Anniversary

  • Speaking as a previous mod of another group that underwent some pretty heavy criticism, the moment someone said "stop ganging up on me" meant that person felt bullied.  Whether bullying was happening or not in my personal opinion, I stopped the thread.

Ah, I see Pease's response.  I also think that's appropriate then.

I don't know, it still feels a little icky. There wasn't any name calling or personal info it was people disagreeing with her.
And not disagreeing like "Hey, I hate your dress" or something, it was "What do you think of this really egregious etiquette breach I'd like to try?" and when she got (correct) answers it was all "Meanies!"  End of replies, post closed, bangs gavel.  Seriously?

Lurkers/visitors, don't go complaining when posts go off-topic, because apparently when we're on-topic, those posts can be shut down.

Yes, yes, a frillion times yes.

I may start posting Dear Prudie's live chats.  Ha.
  • What I find even more ridiculous is that the OP continued to come back and post multiple times to try and validate her rude behavior. She was keeping the conversation and drama going - until she went crying to the mod to shut it down. If she had enough sense to realize that nobody was going to agree with her, and just stopped posting, it never would have had that many replies.

so much for wearing big girl panties :-\

Yes, so much this.  99% of the time, those threads keep going because the OP keeps coming back to defend themselves/continue the argument.  Ugh.

I guess we've all joined the ranks of @baconsmom as cyber bullies.  I'm just sad that we didn't get the opportunity to call someone a hipster douchebag.  ;)

this probably means the death of awesome insults like "chair-asses" too.
  • I will say that the fact that the OP gets the last-word in ("quick, let me post my 'rebuttal' and then say I'm bullied") kinda irks me. I get not liking it. I get that it's supposed to prevent cyber-bullying, but when someone comes on, engages, gets upset, continues to engage, and while still engaging [in not 'nice' but not inappropriate back and forth], says her final piece AND gets the tread locked? yeah, that's kinda shitty. (which, peasblossom, isn't aimed at you. I'm on fo the gazillion people who grouses about administrations as an internet hobby. And I understand why the rules, even the shades of gray rules, exist. I'm just in need of a pint of blueberries, a heating pad, a treadmill and a nap. or something)
  • ALSO, the thread below is the second thread about the issue.  She asked 8 months ago and got the same answers.  So, seriously...I think in this instance, her whole 'you're ganging up on me' is ridiculous.

But it's closed, so the point is moo.
  • HEY! WHAT PART OF "NFT" DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND?!

    stop bullying me!
  • What'd I miss?

And? There were no TOS violations in that thread. Not validating someone's bad ideas is not a TOS violation.
