Men's Wearhouse PSA/pissed as hell

FBIL just texted FI that he (finally) went in for his tux fitting and was told that our wedding was 10/23. We're getting married 10/11.

FI's on the phone with clients and I couldn't wait so I called: apparently FI's tux is set for the right date but all of the GMs were set for the wrong date.

Fucking incompetence! Why on earth would they have different dates? And the dumbass salesgirl didn't seem to think this was that big of a deal.

I hate them all right now.

So my PSA- check that your tux rental place has the correct dates for ALL of the guys.

  • Whaaaaaat?! Oh I would be so livid. Will the GM tuxes arrive in time?

  • It will be fine- but it wouldn't be if I caught it much later. The guys have a week to get fitted before rush fees. We're not sure if they would charge the guys if the mistake was on their end-- theoretically, the others should have noticed the wrong date.

That said, I checked the receipt for FSS's tux that happened to be in my wallet. I can't find the date anywhere on it, though it looks like the printer was running out of ink when they printed it.

I just can't imagine what would have happened if FBIL didn't catch it!

We stopped into our local MW so that FI could look at suits. We walked in, FI told salesguy that he wanted a navy, classic cut, two button, two pocket, solid suit around the $300 range. Salesguy says, gee, I don't think I can find anything like that less than $700. Then proceeds to show FI everything but what he said he wanted including a plaid powder blue suit. FI said thanks, no thanks and we left. FI had been stalking their website for months looking to see what he wanted and knew full well he could get what he wanted for that price. Got home, he went to JC Penny online, ordered the suit and $200 later it has been delivered to our home and fits perfectly! ETF: Paragraphs

  • Ridiculous! FBIL went to MW in Florida for his tux. And they kept telling him we weren't in the system. Finally, after 10 minutes, they found us. WTF?
  • I took care of it by phone but I'll be checking in on it again soon. I bought my dad a few ties to choose from for the wedding (he doesn't want to wear a tux) and need to go back to return the ones I bought there. I'll double-check everything again while there.

    They're incompetent.

  • I don't like MW. We went there to get some suits for FI for some shit a while back and the dipshit working there kept telling us this VERY BLACK suit was 'charcoal gray'. I pulled it up on the website on my phone and sure as shit it said black.

    Hate that guy.

  • That's too bad- did you check your online group manager? I have found it really helpful to track who has been fitted and who still needs to be. You can check all the dates there too. I had a great experience at the one in DC but could see from other meetings that my lady was a star and others might not be.

  • MW decides that ivory shirts were what FI and the other male wedding party members needed because my dress was ivory. They asked FI what color my dress was and I told him and we thought nothing of it. They didn't say why they were asking. 2 days before the wedding we pick up the tuxes and the shirts look ridiculous with their gray tuxes but "nothing we can do" is the only solution. H was so pissed.
  • If you are anywhere near a Macys with a good sized mens department, run there. We also went to MW since his groomsmen are in South Dakota. The choices and the prices suck. Headed out to a sale at Macys near home and totally scored a Bar III suit that looks so good on him, I wanted to eat him up then and there! And it just needed to be hemmed, all for $200. We did get the shirt we wanted at MW, because it was marked down from $93 to $34. We ended up getting all the guys ties at Macys though.

  • Oh wow what a mess. I'm glad everything will be ok though!

  • Man, that sucks! I'm sure they'll work it out, though. You aren't getting married at peak season, they'll have tuxes to spare. For what it's worth- our MW's experience was fantastic. We purchased our suit, however.

We did- but it showed the correct date there. It was odd.

  • I would have loved it if I could have gotten them all into suits. This is a group where anyone who owns a suit has a black one. I'm a great shopper and could have purchased them all suits for about the same price paid for their rentals.

But FI wanted tuxes. He cares much more than I do.
