  • FWIW (and it may not be much), I don't mind the scale staying the same or going up when I'm incorporating weight training...  I really love the look of sleek muscles, and if that means the number on the scale is higher then I'll take it!  for the first time ever, my arms are starting to slim down (they are my worst area) and I can start to see triceps and biceps peeking through.  loving it!

I'm only doing small weights though, because I don't have a gym... I am impressed with your work outs, @LivLeighton!!

    P.S. waffle fries sound amazing.
  • Didn't make it to the gym yesterday. :( I worked late and had a really crazy day, so by the time I got home I was drained. I told FI though that he better force me to go this afternoon!

Also, @LivLeighton, I try my best to avoid the scale and base everything on how I look and feel. When I went through my first round of weight loss, I was OBSESSED with the scale. I would weigh in multiple times a day. It was ridiculous. I got so caught up in the numbers and would let it get me down, even though I was eating right and incorporating weights in my exercise routine. Weighing in once a week is a good idea, but definitely don't get too caught up in the numbers because they are not the best indicators of progress and overall fitness. Just keep doing everything you're doing because you are kicking ass!

    B - banana and PB2
    S - Greek yogurt
L - spinach tortilla with turkey and cheese, baby carrots, applesauce, sugar free Jello
S - string cheese, granola bar
D - probably tilapia with peas and rolls since it's been on my mind all week. FI is coming home early today (allegedly), and I'm bound and determined to cook lol.

    E - cardio, arms, abs

So, for all of you who exercise on your own... how do you come up with effective "routines" for the gym? Every time I try and plan a workout, I blank on good moves. When I play it by ear, I end up doing the same things over and over again. I had a personal trainer for like 2 years, but for whatever reason I'm having a hard time remembering some of the cooler things she would have me do... so do you guys use a website to plan things? Or do you just come up with stuff on your own?

  • @eilis1228 - I do DVDs.  I plan out my work out schedule when I do my meal plan, and coordinate it... so on longer work out days, I have quicker meals.  my H does the gym, and he finds work outs in fitness magazines that he does.  he's found lots of good circuits that he uses.  he's not into DVDs, but I think they are so easy because you don't have to come up with anything!

That's why I loooooved having a personal trainer. I used to go to a lot of classes at the gym too, but I think I'm going to give up my gym membership to save some money. Our apartment has a really nice gym, so I feel like I can do plenty of stuff on my own there for free. I just need to come up with ideas on circuits. I'll look into fitness magazines and stuff like that. Maybe find some of the routines on DVDs listed on the internet or something.

  • @LivLeighton I'm totally stealing this... I may do the elliptical instead of the treadmill because running just isn't my thing, but this is awesome. Thank you!

  • B--Coffee and smoothie (Proud of myself because I hitched a ride to campus with my brother and he stopped and got donuts and I didn't get ANY.)

    L--2 hardboiled eggs, broccoli, mini-peppers

S--pear, string cheese, Sonic Vanilla Diet. Dr. Pepper (Courtesy of same little brother who knew I'm in heavy dissertation mode and brought it to me for inspiration.)

D--No idea...having dinner at a colleague's house, so I've tried to be good all day!

E--3 mile walk, Zumba, easy strength training
  • I was not so good at lunch... coworker wanted to go to Corner Bakery, and I obliged. Had very good intentions... got a half sammich and cup of chicken tortilla soup, but i didn't realize it came with chips and a cookie... and I mean, I couldn't let them go to waste. lol.

I input everything into My Fitness Pal, and I'm only 143 calories over before exercise, so I guess it wasn't too bad. But I feel guilty!
