Venue around Springfield MA

Can anyone recommend a venue in MA that is close to CT (like around Springfield area)? And what are your experiences with them? I'm not very familiar with that state and I'll ask the same question in the MA board.

My "ideal" location will be big enough to accomodate under 100 people, I'd love to do a ceremony+reception together. And not pricey, like around $70 ish or less.

Thanks very much in advance!

The only places that I can think of are The Log Cabin and Delaney House which are both in Holyoke and are supposed to be awesome.

In addition to the Log Cabin (which is beautiful & reasonable) you can look at Tekoa CC in Westfield. Also look at Oak Ridge in Agawam. I don't remember the price ranges there though. Also there are a few places in Enfield (although I can't remember the name right now... It's a country club though).

IMO being in western MA, the MA board wasn't too helpful because most of the people on it were from the Boston area.

I agree. )o: I'm from north of Boston... and I have to admit that before last summer, the last time I was in western Mass was when Six Flags was Riverside.

BUT, I did a Google search and found the Event Space. I don't know if it's in your budget though... and it's a little bare, but it looks like it has a lot of character!! Santarella looks really nice, too.

I agree with checking Oak ridge - prices are reasonable. I'm going to a wedding there this weekend, so I can give some feedback after that; Also, I know there's crestview country club; Longmeadow country club.... Not sure if you need sponsors for either of those, but will throw it out there.

I would try the counrty clubs or the Log Cabin. There is also the Summit house/HAmmels catering in Holyoke. I have been to weddings at the Log Cabin that were beautiful, also seveal years ago at one of the country clubs but i dont remember which one. Also try the Courtyard by Mariott in Hadley, my freind is getting married there next year. I think there are a few other places in the Hadley Northampton area too.

I would also try posting on the Western MA board. I know it is not a very active board, but you may get some different responses from there.

The Yankee Peddlar Inn. I can't remember if it's in Chicopee or Holyoke, but it's right at the end of 391. I went to a wedding there a few years ago that was good. It's got a lot of character. And they had the ceremony there too because it rained that day (it was supposed to be outside at Stanley Park in Westfield).

H and I looked at Brick Street restaurant in Westfield, not sure if that too far out from the area you want (probably 20min to the west of Springfield, but still close to CT). Their prices were reasonable & they were going to remodel at the end of 2008. We ended up finding our venue before we could go back and look at the remodel, but the food was excellent and the owner was really nice.

I went through this quickly so I might be repeating. There is the Barney Carriage House in Forest Park. but I do think this is expensive so maybe I'm not helping. In Agawam there is Chez Josef, it's a banquet hall. There are also many hotels in the Springfield area.

It's not really near Springfield, but there's the Publick House in Sturbridge (easy access from rte 84 or rte 90). I'm not sure of the prices, but I have been to a couple of events there and its pretty nice, good food, and on the smaller side. Plus they have lodging available. You can check out their website here:
