Updates - T&P needed

So, my MOH had to go back to the hospital again...she's still having serious complications, and started having trouble breathing today on top of everything else.  She's been sick for days and running a fever, so really no improvement since she's been home.

In other news, I just applied for a job I really, REALLY want....I think I'd be perfect for it and I love the company!  The next training class starts immediately after we get married! IF I can get this job, I won't really be out of work!  I'm really excited and hopeful about this one!

T&P for both situations, please?  I hope I hear some good news on both fronts soon!

  • I'm sorry to hear about your MOH.  I don't remember the backstory-- is she pregnant?

    Sending vibes.

  • @JCbride2015 - it's been a constant medical struggle since about April.  She was on bedrest, had the baby early June, didn't heal well from her C-section, had gallbladder surgery, complications from that, follow-up ERCP that perforated her stomach, and a 3 week hospital stay after that.  She was finally released about 3 weeks ago to home health and PT, but she's still battling pain and infection.  There's just a lot going on there.  :(

Good luck at the new job!
  • Good luck on the job! And definitely T&P going toward your friend. Medical infections are nasty, evil things. Several years ago I had back surgery that resulted in a deep staph infection. It took 3 more surgeries and a full year of antibiotics to finally get rid of it... most of it with a pic line in my arm for IV antibiotics. I was even MOH in my best friends wedding with an IV in my arm. It was a horrible experience, but I somehow kept pretty positive throughout the whole thing and learned that I had a lot more strength & resilience than I had ever imagined. I also learned that hospitals are very scary places, and the longer you are there, the scarier they become (each visit resulted in some negligent screw up... luckily none with long term effects for me). And if they take her off antibiotics and fever returns, get to doctor immediately and get back on something. That was part of my problem. They kept saying "infection is gone, stop taking antibiotics", and within a week I was in the emergency room and severely ill. The last time, they had run every test possible, all saying infection was clear, so they stopped antibiotics. Four days later, I was in the ER with spinal meningitis and nearly died. And sometimes you need to push back on the doctors to get results. It took a few yelling matches with them to convince them to run some additional tests and finally get things solved. With me, they had inserted metal into my back with the initial surgery and the infection was sticking to it. They went back and removed the metal and infection went away immediately after that. So, I definitely can feel for your friend and hope that they get her situation under control soon. My best advice for her is to trust the doctors, but not 100%. You need to be your own advocate, pay attention to details, and you are the best judge of whether something isn't right with your body. And if it isn't right and the doctor won't listen, find another doctor who will. And definitely prayers help.
