Re: 6 month mark!

  • Yes!  We've booked all of our flights and accommodations over the past week.  I can not wait!!!!!!!
  • Sometimes it seemed to go painfully slow, and now suddenly the 6 month countdown is here! CRAZY!! But soooo exciting!! I hope these next couple months fly by :)

  • It really has been busy.  I am alone in planning my wedding and it seems very stressful and lonely.  I think with the holidays it will go bye even faster. I am debating sending my invitations at the beginning of  November so people have time to plan and have a RSVP Jan. 30th. Any thoughts?
  • Kimberly0315 where are you going?
  • starfish411 WOAHHH don't do that. Many people don't know what they will be doing a month and a half from then! You will get last minute no shows (or people who wont even tell you and just no show-see ya later $100 a head!) and people who will forget about your wedding. Send your invite out 8-6 weeks in advance of the wedding date with a RSVP about 2 weeks before the time you have to give your final numbers to your caterer.

And I'm sorry no one is helping you with your wedding! Where is your Fi? This is his/her wedding too! And we are always here to help out! <3

PS. Make sure to out a @ in front of a username to tag the other person so they will see it ;)

  • Unless you have a wedding that requires MOST guests to travel (in which case a STD would've worked best) you should definitely wait until some time in January to send invites, as @shannonmaya suggested. You're not alone in planning, post on here and bounce ideas off of us! :)

  • Will do the @ from now on.  I was just debating on send them out sooner because my wedding is a destination wedding with the average guess driving more than 4 hours and some guest having to fly.  I can hold off until January.
  • starfish411. Have you thought about a quick and easy DIY save the date? You can even make a free wedding website and send the link to people so they have the information to plan and take off work. (which you can send right now) I used the Wedding Chicks website and printed them off and sent them off to those I was 100% sure I was going to invite.

  • @shannonmaya I have sent them the link to our website and they have all the information.
  • @starfish411 Awesome! Send the invites in Jan. I actually purchased my invites (jumping the gun, I know) already when WPD had their Labor Day Sale. I'm sending them out Jan 14 with a RSVP date of Feb 20. My wedding is March 7 and I have to give my caterer final numbers 3 days before. Also we have to take into account that we don't want the holidays overshadowing our invites. I figured 2 weeks after the holidays most people are going about their normal lives again and it won't get mixed with the other greeting cards.

  • @shannonmaya that is a good idea waiting the two weeks.  I am making my invites.
  • starfish411 Be sure to share! I was going to do it then the sale came along and I said F it... I'm DIYing my bellybands though and escort cards.

Here are my invites.  I am not following etiquette.  I am inviting up to first cousin but I don't know all my first cousin so I am just sending invites to my aunts and uncles and letting them know it is extended out to their kids.  It is to hard to find cousins I don't know and have never met.
  • Kimberly0315 where are you going?
We are getting married in Hawaii.  I'm from the US, but live in New Zealand (my FI is Kiwi).  So half of the guests are from NZ and half from the US.  Hawaii was the most central place for us to get married.  It was the best compromise, and it's a beautiful place.  We are so excited!
  • still so much to do.
