Anyone play The Sims?

I threw a wedding, and I accidentally had a lot of virtual etiquette blunders. First, there was a cash bar (no option to not make a cash bar) and I forgot to invite a couple of SO's and I didn't provide dinner.

And a werewolf kissed my sim's great aunt.

So many of my sims have gotten married Sonny & Cher style that I've lost count.

No matter what I do, their B parties are always lame, and then nobody will leave once the reception's over, if they have guests over at all.

  • I only ever get married in private. Damn.

  • Has anyone tried The Sims 4? I was all excited about it but I have Mac so couldn't get it. But now I'm hearing it's not so great anyways. I play the sims 3 but some of the expansions cause problem as with my game so I can't use them all :(

  • I played the sims 4 demo and read some reviews. They took out toddlers and pools, and I think intend on adding them into an expansion so you can pay 40 bucks for them. The thing about EA is that they take out all the base parts of the last game and make you pay for more for it.

Sims 4 is not even really more complex than sims 3, just added annoying moods.

  • I really liked Sims 2. I had the job expansion pack and opened up stores. I had the best arcade ever!
  • I have almost all the EP's for TS3. My big computer is getting kinda old and spazzy, so it doesn't always want to play right all of the time. I'd put it on my new laptop, but I have no idea what I did with all my little booklets that have the license numbers :(

  • I snagged the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection when it was briefly available free on Origin. I'd had most but not all of the expansion packs already and none of the stuff packs. The hobbies added by Free Time are kind of cool, along with the secret lots they unlock.

The main family I've been playing is now on maybe the fifth generation or so. I started with college kids Scott Summers and Jean Grey and have been using names from their vast family tree for all the subsequent generations. The current generation is living in a huge mansion with a helicopter pad on the roof and some 600k in simoleans just sitting in their bank account.

  • I spend most of my time building and decorating houses, and then the family gets too big and I have to put apartments over garages and shit.

In the past I've lost booklets to games, and usually you can find some serial numbers online.

:(:(:( I can never get those things to work. And the only time I've ever looked for cracks or whatever, the things for them didn't work on a mac. Frustrating :(

  • I've been playing Sims 2 since I was LITTLE. Probably 8 years or so now? It's still my favorite game and I own Sims 3 and most EPs, but Sims 3 just isn't as good. I like having the complete control over my neighborhood, and plus I like all the baby stuff I have for Sims 2. I probably won't get Sims 4 because I think at this point EA is just trying to be a money whore, and the no toddlers thing irks me to no end.

Also, I had a wedding once where the groom went and made out with his old lover .03 seconds after the I Do's.

Also, if you have a wedding on a home lot, you can buy a bar and throw a party, and there won't be charges for drinks. If you care about that :p
  • Is there a good version for the ipad? I just have the SIMS free play right now, and all they have is a quick ceremony at the park.

Not really! Sims needs a lot of computing, so it needs a computer. Preferably not a mac.

Before my mac started having spazzy graphics card issues (literally within the last 3 months), it ran fabulously on my 2009 iMac. Even now, it runs VERY well, aside from the odd game update that can sometimes put it out for a month or so, it's just my graphics card dying.

I game a lot, so OF COURSE I have to be against mac! The most important part of a computer is the ability to run games amazingly. To me.

Macs are good for other things!

  • Hmm well I have a PC. What about a PS3? Can I play on that? I used to play SIMS all the time a few years ago and was sooo addicted. It definitely is not the same on the ipad :/

  • I have 2, 3 and now 4. I love the added customization in 4 in that you can truly make unique sims. I'm glad they took out toddlers. They were always a pain in the ass for me. I haven't had a chance to play it as much as I want to as I just got it on Saturday and BF and I go over his mom's house for dinner on Sundays. I hope to play some later today after running my errands.

  • I fucking LOVE the Sims!

With that being said, I will not be getting Sims4.  I have Sims3 and a lot of crazy expansion packs so I feel like I would be betraying the Sims3 gals if I go to Sims4, plus Im still on the fence about Sims4.

My Sim never gets married because:

    A) I sleep around like a drunk 'ho
    B) I get bored and design a new Sim to sleep around with
    C) I can't be bothered to 'be friends' longer than it suits me.  Bitch, it's 3am, get the hell out of my house!!!!  No I don't want to take your call!  No I dont want to go over to your house.....meh!

  • I make my Sims get married classic style, make them pregnant at least three times but watch them leave their babies unattended until Social Services come to take them away.

I used to do the whole "go swimming then delete the ladder" thing to my Sims. Maybe I'm a bit of closet-sadist?

And WTF is this shit about Sims 4 not being available on a Mac?! I am PISSED!

    I'm pretty sure there's a version for ps3!

I always make a sexy couple and have them birth like 12 babies. I have the butler raise them because my girl sim is too focused on her career. lol

  • No pools in Sims 4 either - you'll have to think of some other ways to be a sadist now.

  • I LOOOVED the Sims, It was actually the only game in life I got addicted to.  I don't know what happened to my disc, but it went MIA :(

Also, as much as the knot loves friends.. you might all adore this

  • I love Sims so much and played it since it first came out in 2000. I desperately want to try 4 because it feels unnatural to NOT have the newest Sims game, but I can't justify the price tag with what you get. Perhaps when the price lowers or the first expansion comes out.

  • I'm kind of glad The Sims 4 isn't sounding so wonderful because I have a Mac and can't get if even if I wanted to. So not cool.

@lulu411‌ I read an article that one of the main complaints about The Sims 4 was not being able to do the pool thing do clearly ur not alone. But hey there's no firefighters so way easier for sims to die in a kitchen fire
