Anyone else sick?

I haven't been sick in over a year and now the day before my first fitting I feel like poop.
Stuffed up, sneezing lots and my throat feels like I gargled glass - awesome!

Anyone else feeling under the weather?

Re: Anyone else sick?

  • I was SO sick last week. It came on really suddenly and I actually took off work and went to the doctor (which I never do) because I felt like hell. Turns out I had a bacterial infection? They gave me a shot and some antibiotics. I feel fine now but have developed a dry cough over the last few days that wasn't there before =/ Can't win them all I guess?

    Feel better!!

  • Lots of Knotties are sick with whatevertheheck this is!  I have exactly the same symptoms.  It's day 10 and it's sort of moved into my right ear and jaw, and my chest a little bit.  I have such sinus pressure that when I walk, the impact of my heel on the ground actually hurts my face.

I saw the doctor last week and she said she thought it was viral.  I'm trying to ride it out.

  • Oh no... I really hope it doesn't last 10+ days. Luckily since I worked all weekend I have all week to get better... Of course aunt flow will be joining me for this sick ride in a day or two as well. UGH.

I have my bridal shower this Sunday, I really hope it's all gone by then...  -FINGERS CROSSED-

You guys sound like you have it real bad, I hope you're all getting rest.

No, I'm good. But I have a holter monitor on and it is no fun. Only two more hours of wearing it! THEN I CAN BATHE

  • My DH's superpower is taking a harmless cold and turning it into some horrific super bug. A few days ago he had the sniffles and a sore throat, today I have all that plus aches and a fever. I am doomed.

  • I'm feeling like poop too. But I'm 99% sure it's OC allergies that have turned into sickness. I'm itchy, sniffy, headachy and tired. Woof.

  • Yup I got sick last week. FI got sick first last Saturday, and then I woke up super sick last Tuesday. I even took a sick day last Wednesday which I also never do, it was my first sick day in over a year! My nose is still slightly stuffy/runny but I am back to normal for the most part. I forced myself to go back to working out last Friday which helped.

My FI does that, too. I took care of him all last weekend and he's still sick, and I'm sure I'm going to come down with it any minute now.

  • I am!  I thought I was kicking it over the weekend, but woke up yesterday with totally clogged ears.  I spent all day feeling like there was a bubble in my head that needed to pop.  Feeling a little better today.

Have y'all heard about this new respiratory illness that they say is affecting kids?  Well, two weekends ago, I spend a whole day with my little sister in urgent care getting her breathing treatments.  She has asthma, but she is also an athlete and typically doesn't have issues with it.  But it was awful when she was sick.  Her oxygen dropped to 91% and she was on a nebulizer every two hours.

Anyway, I am pretty sure she had that and I caught it from her.  But since I don't have asthma, it isn't knocking me out in the same way.  I am actually relieve FI is out of town, so he doesn't catch it from me.  I wouldn't let him kiss my mouth all weekend when he was home.

Booo for all of us feeling crappy.

  • I am suspicious of this new mystery respiratory illness too!

WTF that sounds terrible, you've been sick for a while now! A lot of Knotties have seen at the same time lately. We are all in phase cause we love each other so much lol. I have a little scratchy throat today but I think it's from all the crankiness build up because of the road works right outside the window starting at 8am. I worked until 3am last night so am kinda moody.

  • I'm feeling the worst I have in pretty much forever.

It started just before the first weekend in August.  Bad cold  turned into Pneumonia.  Then Pneumonia was ok-ish after a week of antibiotics.  1 day feeling ok.  Then cold symptoms again, followed by strep throat (pneu and strep were both diagnosed by MD).  Strep cleared with antibiotics.  I'm still fighting a sinus cold, aches and pains and my tongue feels like it's covered in slime that doesn't let me taste anything.
  • Well I know where I most likely got mine, it was my FIs 3 year old niece's birthday this weekend. So we were there for hours and I adore her. So we were cuddling, playing, and sitting together that whole time. Apparently they're all sick too.

  • I wonder what is going on seeing how we're all sick, I didn't think September was a big time to get sick. Weird. I hope everyone starts feeling better soon. Soup for everyone!

  • Hubby gave me his cold. My head is a little stuffy and I'm groggy. Took some dayquil which took care of the stuffed up nose and sore throat. When DH has this cold he was acting like he was going to die. Almost missed worked, slept for 4 hours on Saturday. Men are such babies.

  • Z-Pak is the best!

@jynxxie it's an antibiotic that usually is only a 3- or 5- day course.  Pretty concentrated.  I think the generic name is Azythromycin or something like that.  It usually works for me when I have bronchitis, which unfortunately I get a lot.

    @inkdancer z-pack?
Azithromycin. It's a hard core, broad-spectrum antibiotic. Comes in a bubble pack of 6, so my pharm FFIL calls them Z-packs. I had a horrible bronchial cough and had been sick for 2 weeks, and now I'm feeling a hell of a lot better!

  • I've never heard of it - I'll have to go see if the pharmacy caries it.

    Prescription only I am assuming?

    Yep, since it's an antibiotic.

  • I just finally went to the doctor today and got a Z Pak. She said yep, my virus turned into a secondary bacterial infection because it stuck around so long. Awesome. I have high hopes though, that antibiotics will help.

Not to be all soap boxy... But you shouldn't take antibiotics unless you have a bacterial infection. They don't work for colds, the flu, etc as those are viral infections. Overuse of antibiotics has caused a lot issues with resistant bacteria.

  • No worries! I mean more so that I was going to go to the doctors and see if they give it to me - if needed of course. I don't take medicine often, especially when not needed.

I'm just getting a little worried since my hearing is going away, blah.

  • I am having a ton of pain and pressure in my ear because of the sinus pressure. It's nuts. I'm so lucky this is happening right before work instead of right after! I'd be a mess.

  • Yes to all of the above! Mine lasted like 2 weeks and am just getting over it - sinus pressure, ears, chest, head, everywhere! Feel better ladies!
