Programs

What are you guys doing for programs? Are you making your own or are you ordering them? We're thinking of making them ourselves and I really like this style (click here!). I just don't know how to do this. I'm pretty good with computers and making things, I just don't know where to get some graphics, etc. I have Microsoft Publisher on my computer. Does anybody have advice as to where I could get some of these graphics or know someone that would design it and us print it for cheap? Thanks!

Re: Programs

  • I work with publisher all the time at work, but don't have it on our home computer.  I am going to try and make our programs ourselves using word.  I am looking for something a little more simple than that thought.  It looks like you can do that with images of snowflakes and a lot of textboxes.  I would search google images for the graphics you are looking for and then you can right click to arrange them behind text so it doesn't impact your spacing.   Good luck!!!
  • Publisher usually comes with a ton of clip art built in. It is a really easy, intuitive program, all drag and drop. You can also download more through the microsoft webpage. They also have templates that you can start from.

As for printing, you can send your completed design to a print shop (Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, Fedex, the UPS store) often online. I know with Staples if you spend more than $50 they'll ship it to you for free. Depending on what kind of paper you get them printed on, color printing starts at around $.50 per side. If you want fancy paper, a lot of shops will let you bring in your own paper as long as it is compatible with the kind of printers they use (usually Laser printers). Good luck!

  • My mom is making them on publisher. I don't know how to do that, but she's good. We may get them printed at office max or something though.

We are going to print on paper with designs on it and roll them up and tie a ribbon around with "The wedding of" showing on the outside.

  • My FSIL made ours on VP. It was one page front and back with flowers on it. They are simple but look nice.

  • Got ours from wedding programs fast.com. About $70 for 200 printed programs which isnt too bad. Our printer sucks at home so DIY invites/programs were out of the question. We're doing half fold programs with an insert that thanks everyone and also gives a tribute to our loved ones that are no longer here.
  • I wasn't going to do them at all, but our Pastor said they can print them at the church.  I've seen them before...it just looks like a regular Sunday bulletin with a wedding related pic on the front.  I just have to provide some basic info and he'll do the rest.

  • We're making ours. We used Publisher for the template and added a cover shot of our engagement photo. We also included directions from the chapel to the restaurant to make it easier for everyone. I found a great idea from Martha Stewart's website to add fabric covers and a ribbon tie. We're doing our own verision of that idea.
Just my two cents! Penny L G M
