Inspiration board?

Does anyone know how to make these? I've seen them all over the internet but not sure how to make them. How do you get the color samples that I've seen in some?? Thanks

Re: Inspiration board?

  • Do you mean inspiration boards like this?

I put a digital one together using powerpoint of all apps. The colors were just a guess because I wasn't using a better tool. If I were to do one again today I would use Acorn. You can use a color selector tool to find the perfect colors with Acorn.

  • @SBmini‌ that is exactly what I'm talking about. Is Acorn an app or can it be used on a laptop?

  • I haven't heard of Acorn either, but it sounds cool.  I will ask the Googles.

My mom is an interior designer and she got me some large paint chips, like 8x8, that I stuck in my wedding binder to compare how the colors look together.  For visual stuff, I do prefer to touch and see IRL.  I'm not sure how you would get those samples if you aren't in the design industry.  You could use regular paint chips from The Home Depot, at least.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • @JCbride2015‌ thanks. I didn't think of that!

I chose my bridesmaid color before I made any other color decisions, so I ordered a fabric swatch from the designer and kept that in my notebook to compare to everything else.

ETA as far as the palette itself, I love http://www.theperfectpalette.com/

Paint chips are the shit.  During planning, I stocked up on at least 70, mixing and matching colors.

They're also really awesome to make a cheap mural....lil' cousin and I made one on her apartment wall (it was a sunset, at least 6 by 6 feet).

  • Acorn is a program. You can download it and use it on your computer. It may only be Mac based- but Gimp is a good PC equivilant if that is the case.

  • Paint swatches :) Home Depot never saw so many girly girls in there at once.

All the bridesmaids grabbing for colors to find the "perfect" charcoal grey. Haha
