Wine box ceremony script ideas? Or (long shot) any scripts that refer to beer?

FI and I are thinking about doing a wine box ceremony (sort of). We're beer collectors and are planning on putting a super fancy bottle of beer in it. I've scoured the internet for some wine box ceremony scripts and I haven't found anything I like and I'm having major writer's block. I've found all the ones that have been posted on past message boards here, but just wanted to see if anyone out there has used one that they like and would be willing to share.

Also, this is an extreme long shot, but has anyone else used beer in their ceremony? If so, I'd love to compare notes! (Although, I'm not holding my breath... but I know other beer nerds are out there! And I know they get married!)

  • I'm probably not as huge a beer nerd as you, but just wondering how long you would keep the box closed. I think the wine box is typically 5 years? It differs I'm sure. I just don't know about drinking a 5 year old beer on my anniversary...

We'd be putting in a really high ABV (18%+) barrel aged stout (probably this one or this one). They can age up to 15 or 20 years when cellared.

You can also age any lambic (fruity sour beer) with good results.

We recently had the 2011 Chocolate Rain. IT WAS TO DIE FOR. At least if we put one in a box we're forcing ourselves to keep it. Otherwise we are really bad at resisting temptation when it comes to beers.

Many authentically belgian beers would be great to age. Cantillon, Westveltaren, Delirium. Many rare beers are made for aging. But these are like $50-$200 dollar bottles of beer. Not beer from your local liquor store.

  • We are doing a wine box - but are beer lovers as well. lol Let me know if you find anything cool?? :)

  • I found this site with three different scripts ideas for the cermony, I'm using the first one.

This box contains a bottle of wine, and a love letter from each to the other.   The letters describe the good qualities they find in one another, the reasons they fell in love, and their reasons for choosing to marry.   The letters are sealed in individual envelopes and they have not seen what the other has written. I recommend that you keep the box in a place of honor prominently displayed in your home as a constant reminder of your commitment to each other. In five years, on your fifth anniversary, open this box, share a glass of wine and read the letters to renew your commitment to your marriage. Then write new letters, get a new bottle of wine and seal up the box for another 5 years.  ^^This is what we are using- i'm sure you could just replace the wine wording with beer... :) Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas guys! We ended up going with this:

Before today’s ceremony, R and J each wrote a letter to the other, to be opened and read five years from today, on their fifth wedding anniversary.  To ensure their letters’ safe keeping, they have decided to lock them away, along with something so precious they are sure to not misplace it – a first release bottle of The Bruery’s vintage 2011 Chocolate Rain.  And yes, that is a kind of beer. R and J, would you please step up to the table and place your bottle and love letters in the box, and lock it, not to be opened until October 18, 2019.

R puts the bottle in the box. R and J each place their letters in the box. J locks the box.  R and J come back to their places in front of S. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

When you open the box you will have five years of memories as a married couple behind you.  You will marvel at how far you’ve come since today.  You will read your letters to each other and remember what this moment, right now, felt like, the moment you took your vows and became husband and wife.
