DH and I had our very first full 24 hours together today! Which means we drank a LOT, watched he football game, and had hard core sex, then took a great nap. It was dark out when I woke. I went to the bathroom in the dark, and put on the clothes I was wearing earlier in the day to go let the dog out.

I get back, take pants off, and notice, THERE IS BLOOD EVERYWHERE. My poor white jeans have blood splattered down the leg too! Help help help! They are the cutest pair of skinny jeans ever! What should I do??

  • COLD water and Oxyclean. Soak. Rinse. Soak again. Rinse. Wash in COLD water. Hang dry. If the stain isn't gone, repeat soaking, wash in cold, hang dry. Do NOT put in the dryer.
  • I would bring that thing to the dry cleaners so fast.

ALL EVERYTHING COLD. Heat sets stains. I ruined a pair of white skinnies by accidentally washing them in hot water.

  • Hydrogen peroxide. I always use it on undies when aunt flow makes a surprise appearance. Ditto pps about cold water.

  • You can try loosing the stain up with dishwashing detergent.  It doesn't get much out of clothing, other than grease, but it's a go to for me.  It just seems to make it easier to get stains out later on.  My next go to is soak, rinse, soak, rinse etc until problem is gone.  I've gotten relatively fresh blood out of white just by soaking overnight, but I sometimes stains are more stubborn than that.  And ditto PPs on the cold water.  There's not much I would wash on hot at the best of times.  If everything fails, consider dying them, and you've still got a great pair of jeans, just not white ones.

Good luck!  I really hope you get your jeans back.

  • Hydrogen peroxide.  You'd be shocked at the things it can get out.

That works well. Also, soaking in cold water, dish soap, and a couple tablespoons of salt.

Thanks, we did hydrogen peroxide, and now they are soaking in the sink with the assistance of a bleach pen.. We of course ran out of oxyclean.

ETA: the splatter spots didn't even really change with peroxide. They appear dry like they been there for awhile, but they just happened because I would not have been walking around with blood spots on my pants all day.

  • Yes, hydrogen peroxide!  I use hydrogen peroxide and dish soap for period mishaps.  And cold water, never hot.

  • I must add this dish soap. Very intriguing.
