Dad or Stepdad to Give Me Away?

My parents divorced when I was an infant and both remarried when I was 18 months old. I lived with my mom and stepdad most of the year and spent the summers with my dad and stepmom out of state. After being engaged for a year I have finally decided to tackle the idea of planning a wedding. I've been avoiding it because I don't want to make hard decisions that come with being raised in a divorced family. Who do I have walk me down the aisle? The man who has been my father figure my whole life or the man who helped create me? My solution is to have my dad perform the ceremony (he's a pastor) and my stepdad walk me down the aisle. That way I'm including both of them in meaningful ways. I would LOVE to hear your thoughts and opinions, especially if you've been in a similar situation! Thanks in advance! :)

I think what you're doing sounds great.  My SIL actually had her father / daughter dance first between her & her dad.  Halfway through the song, dad handed her over to step-dad to finish the dance.  It was very nice.
  • That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing, Sarah!
  • Your wedding sounds lovely.
  • You can also walk down the aisle alone, with your best friend, with your husband. It doesn't have to be a dad.
  • I like what you're planning to do.  It makes a great compromise.
