Table Decor Advice

What do you think?

We're looking at using the venue-included ivory table cloths for our guest tables and then we're renting a gold sequined overlay for our King head table (that I'm hoping will be ok over an ivory table cloth). Then we're going to rent ivory chair covers (which are from a different place than the tablecloths so there may be a slight difference in colour). Our centerpieces are several ivory candles in cylinders - possibly with some holly berries, and a long line of candles for the King table. The room has a wall of windows and a couple of large gold chandeliers.

Someone mentioned to me that brown chair covers might add to the room but I'm wondering if the ivory ones will be fine (they're also cheaper!). Is all of this going to work?

  • You will be the only person there who cares about the color of the chair covers. :) It's fine! Once the room is filled with people and people hang jackets and shawls on their chairs you won't even notice them.

  • No one notices chair covers. And quite honestly, I don't think brown would look good at all.

I like your choice to add some color to what you have. With the ivory table cloths and ivory candles, the pop of color will be welcome. You might also consider adding gold chargers to the guest tables to tie in the look of the gold overlay on the kings table. Plus it's another way to bring in some color/interest. You might also consider having some gold (or other color) ribbon on the hurricanes if you need more color.

  • What do the chairs currently look like?  Personally I absolutely detest chair covers.  They look okay for about a minute and then people sit and them and they get all screwed up and messy looking. And brown chair covers will just look odd.

Honestly, I would use gold pillar candles instead of ivory.  It will add color to all your tables while pulling in the gold from the kings table and the chandeliers.

  • Yes I think that you are choosing the right kind of colors but what I would suggest it that assuming something about it looking nice would sometimes mismatch your imagination, If you have not purchased anything yet what you could do is check on this site sculptwareonline.com and you could go in their design section where you can check different kind of color and compare it which will help you.
