Help with invitation wording

My fiancé and I are hosting our wedding and have found some wording that we like for our invitations. Except I'm uncomfortable with the word "lover" being on our invitations. Here's the wording:
Best Friends, Soul mates, and lovers,
start the beginning of a lifetime of love. 
Please join us
Dana
&
Carl
as we promise our
love and commitment to each other
...


Does anyone have any suggestions for words/phrases we could use instead of "lover"?

    I am not really a huge fan of cutesy and overly wordy invites.  Your guests know that you two love each other because if you didn't then you wouldn't be getting married.

    Simple is typically best...

    Dana Last Name

    and 

    Carl Last Name

    Saturday, the nineteenth of September

    two thousand fourteen

    at four o'clock

    Reception to follow


    **Just used random date and time to fill in the rest

    I have to agree with Maggie though, simple is better if only because it's easier to read.

    A wedding invitation is a simple note from the hosts (you?) to the guests, telling them who, what, when and where - NOT WHY!!!  Save the sentiments for your ceremony and reception, please.  It is tacky to include them on the invitation.  It is not even clear that your wording IS a wedding invitation.  The words "marriage" and "wedding" do not appear anywhere. This will confuse your guests.
    If you use simple, traditional wording, everything is clear.

    at the marriage of
    Bride's Full Name
    and
    Groom's Full Name
    Day, date
    time o'clock
    Venue Name
    Address
    City, State

    Reception to follow

    Yep, get rid of the word "lovers," immediately. 
    Honestly,the best writing is always simple, clean, and to the point. Stick to the very classic format, save the flowery sentiments for another occasion, and make it easy on yourself. You can't go wrong with a classic.
