Tipping Vendors

Hey Girls! It's less than 2 months away for me. Trying to get everything settled with last minute planning and I was wondering, typically what is the etiquette for tipping vendors?  Band, Photographer, Florist, Bakery, Etc?  Just wanted to know some ideas.  TIA!Jamie

If someone owns their own business it is not customary to tip them. Typically you do not tip your photog, florist, or bakery. I would tip the band if they do a great job. The only people we tipped at our wedding was my MUA, limo drivers and bus drivers. The tip was included with our price for our reception venue. Although you can tip any vendor that you feel went above and beyond or that you were really pleased with.  We wanted to tip our photog because they are amazing, but the budget was pretty tight towards the end. Hope that helps!

Etiquette says you should tip assistants and workers of your vendors who do not own the business. My videographer will be with us for part of the day and her assistant will be with us for the reception. We plan on tipping him as he is an hourly employee, who does not own the business.

Don't know where you're having your reception, but most reception venues provide a personal assistant for you & your hubby, your parents, and the groom's parents.  It is a nice gesture to tip these personal assistants also.

What about "employees" of vendors who are family members of the vendor? Do you tip them aslo?
  • This is an old thread but still a relevant topic - how much did you or are you going to tip your second line band?
