  • Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe - Fannie Flagg

  • The Maze Runner I'm about 25% of the way through and I'm enjoying it so far.

    Anniversary

  • Dust by Patricia Cornwell, and Top Secret Twenty-One by Janet Evanovich.

  • War and Peace -Leo Tolstoy... for the past 6 months. not recommended, I'm only trying to finish it for the bragging rights at this point.

I'm a fan of YA fiction - The Wind Singer trilogy and the Seeker trilogy by William Nickolson are good. i read the first book of the Sabriel Trilogy by Garth Nix (strong female leads FTW!) and want to read the rest.

Orson Scott Card is an awful human being, but he writes good Sci-Fi. (Ender's Game series)

  • I just read The Wife by Meg Wolitzer and The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri (super super excellent, highly recommend) and now I'm reading An Untamed State by Roxane Gay. Just started it but it's already addicting.
  • I'm with one of the recs by @AlexaF2014

SABRIEL! YES. GOOD CHOICE! Totally recommend those as well!

  • @Beethery YES to A Dirty Job. Fucking love that book.

H brought me donuts and a copy of Maze Runner this morning, so I guess that's what I'm reading next!

  • @beethery I LOVE Fried Green Tomatoes. One of my favourite books, and definitely top 10 for movies.
    Angels Trilogy by Lurlene McDaniel.
And anything true crime. When I went to Paris I took a BTK book, a Charles Manson book, and the Natalee Holloway book.
  • The Wicked Day by Mary Stewart. It's the fourth of four books on the Arthurian legend; the first 3 are told from Merlin's point of view and the fourth from Mordred's. She puts it into a context that's more historical and less fantasy feeling. Book One is the Crystal Cave if you're interested.

I also really love Ken Follett's Century Trilogy. The third book was just released recently and it's next on my reading list. It's historical fiction, following the same families throughout different parts of Europe and the US from pre-WWI to post WWII.

Chris Moore just finished the sequel. He's not sure when it's coming out, but it's coming out. I'm excited.

I haven't read Fanny Flag for years but I love her! Check out Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man, too.

I'm reading the first Outlander book and just started The Girl You Left Behind. I've been so flippin' tired at night so I'm not making it far in either, but I'm going to keep truckin!

Both of these are great books!
  • I'm about halfway through The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. It's an intriguing story and I love her style of writing, but it's 800 pages long and I maxed out around 450. I suppose I'll finish it eventually...
    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson
    It's awesome and suspenseful!
They are making it into a movie with Nicole Kidman, but wanted to read it before the movie comes out.

I have A Dirty Job but haven't started it yet.

I loved Fried Green Tomatoes but preferred Daisy Fay.

Currently reading Predictably Irrational by David Arielly and Jersulem by Ottolenghi. Because I read cookbooks like novels.

Currently nothing, but I HIGHLY the Vampire Chronicles series by Anne Rice (If you're into that sort of thing). ____________________________________________________________________ ******Interview with the Vampire ******The Vampire Lestat ******The Queen of the Damned ******The Tale of the Body Thief ******Memnoch the Devil ******The Vampire Armand ******Merrick ******Blood and Gold ******Blackwood Farm ******Blood Canticle ____________________________________________________________________ Also, Violin (Anne rice as well) is my ALL TIME favorite book. It isn't attached to any series. It's not a vampire book either - more of a ghost story. _____________________________________________________________________ ETF: Um, excuse me? Paragraphs? ... I guess not.
  • Reading Orphan Train with some friends at work, only a few chapters in but liking it so far!
  • I'm currently reading Dreams of Joy by Lisa See. Any book about Asian culture is totally my bag, despite having no Asian heritage. I'm Hispanic, so there are some similarities which I find interesting.

@beethery Sometimes when I read your posts I think we are twins. Molokai and Honolulu are two of my favorite books. Oh, and did you ever read Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging? I've seen you write "eschew with a firm hand" and you're the only other person (besides Georgia Nicholson) to say that but me, haha.

She really does. Did you know that a new book in the series being published this year? I think it's called Prince Lestat. I am actually scared to read it since she quit at vampires and went all religious a few years back. Not that I have a problem with the religious thing, persay, but as a part of that, she sort of wrote of her earlier works as "a sinful phase". So, it's interesting that she has gone back to this series. Supposedly, there is also another installment in the works. OH, and Universal bought the movie rights to the entire series!

ETF Paragraphs Again. OR NOT. AGAIN. GAHHHHH.
