Harmony HMU issue help!

I emailed Harmony yesterday to confirm my Trial and Wedding day apts. I got an email back saying yes you are confirm, your HMU stylist is X. I emailed her back saying, ummm, I thought it would be you? So back and forth email she basically said her sister is getting married last minute and she found out Saturday and referred me to another artist. I understand last minute changes but this is so frustrating. And on top of that, I asked for a refund since I booked her and not some other artist, Harmony said no. So now I'm stuck. I have looked into other artists so at least I have other options, just would be forfeiting my deposit with Harmony. This is not the type of thing I want to deal with 1 1/2 weeks out.... any other HMU I should contact?

    Goodness I wouldn't like that either!! Who'd she book you with as an alternate? Is it at least her same company or a complete other company?

    If it's someone else well known with good reviews and good work I might let it lie, but if it's a complete unknown i would recommend booking someone else and just losing the deposit

    What does the contract state? Most have a continencgy section.

    Lori J. White is a HAMU artist that has good reviews on here.  She is doing my hair and makeup for the wedding and probably some of the other weekend events as well.  Lori also happens to be a friend of mine but she has great reviews on wedding wire and here.  Harmony just seems to be the one everyone mentions on here so some of the other artists don't get a lot of love.  I don't know what Lori's schedule is like this close (she does a lot of photo shoots as well as weddings) but I can vouch for her and how awesome she is both as an artist and as a person.  If you want to give it a shot, her email is lala@lorijwhite.com.

    @vegasgroom I checked your site for HAMU because I was going to link to lori's reviews and I noticed you said she's hard to get ahold of.  She did have some issues with her website for a while
    where messages weren't going through but that's all fixed now and the email I listed above for her works and she usually replies really quickly when she's not in the middle of doing someone's HAMU! :)

    Her website is lorijwhite.com and she also has a Facebook page where she responds to messages as well.  Not trying to advertise (although I absolutely love her) but I just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to update your info on her reviews page.

    You should probably delete that other number (from project wedding).  I don't think she has that one anymore.  She mainly just uses her cell, which you can call or text her on.

    Hi Guys!  I reached out to Lori prior to seeing your posts and I am very impressed by her willingness to work with me.  She was super quick to respond and very flexible given the situation.  I am thrilled she is available and I appreciate her making time to fit me in.  

    Even though, she's a bit out of my budget, I am going to book her!   When someone goes out of their way and puts that much effort in helping your situation, you can't go wrong.  Thanks for the recco - it's been a rough start but at least ending on a good note.  

    I'm not sure how to proceed with Harmony, but overall disappointed in level of service.

    I am so happy it worked out.  She is great at what she does, but she's also a really good person.  I adore her.  You're so right about her trying to help.  I know she felt horrible that you were in a bad position so close to your wedding.  She really does go above and beyond to try to make your day as stress-free as possible while looking gorgeous at the same time!  I hope you love her as much as I do! :)

    I couldn't use Lori as she was already booked for my wedding day. I booked Harmony, but hmmmmm this makes me nervous
