changed my mind..Againnnn!

Lol so I keep changing my plans for what to do to feed our guests after the wedding. I've been set up at Carlos n Charlie's @ flamingo but I was bored and started looking online. Now thinking of going back to my original idea of an in suite reception. Thinking of going with Maggiano's. We were going to get heavy apps at Carlos n Charlie's for nearly 600$ for 30 people but the reviews are not all great. Maggiano's is significantly less and the reviews are really good! With that 600 we can get our cake and the food!

Re: changed my mind..Againnnn!

  • Carlos n charlies is EXPENSIVE! !! We have decided to just serve chips, salsa and chicken flautas during our 'cocktail hour'. We will also have an open consumption bar which Im estimating will cost about $1k all up just for the hour.

At that cost im also considering other Flamingo areas. The only sucky thing about in suite for you now Valerie is the fight scheduled on your wedding day probably has suite prices sky high.

  • Yea I didn't realize how expensive they were until I started looking into other places! We actually booked the cosmopolitan suite at flamingo back in September so it should still work out alright I hope. It's 800 square feet so I think we will be ok it'll only be for about 45 min.

  • I reached out to Flamingo Chapel and they recommended Margaritaville as a second option to Carlos n Charlies. Even though they are expensive too ($1000++ minimum) they have the 3rd floor tequila bar available overlooking the strip in a semi private area for our guests with its own bar. They also do these appetizer platters with mini sliders, coconut shrimp, boneless wings, chips salsa and guacamole.

I will cost out the 2 options once we get our RSVP back. Carlos n Charlies would be more "convenient" cos its up close to the wedding chapel and the east valet for the DDB.

  • Yea I remember looking into them before Carlos and Charlies they really are more expensive! We've agreed on our in suite. I'm in the process of booking maggianos to deliver. I love that they even set up everything :)

  • Thats brilliant! You cant go wrong with Maggianos. I spoke to my FI and I think we are just going to leave our cocktail hour at Carlos n Charlies mainly cos of its location.

Margaritaville would just be more difficult and probably more expensive too. We may just go there for something unhosted with friends after our meet n greet.

  • Yea I think that would work out better then Margaritaville. I'm thinking of doing a meet and greet also. Just want to make sure what time my guests plan on getting to Vegas. Are you doing welcome bags? I'm not too sure about doing them anymore. I'll only be able to if we do a meet and greet.

  • I am bummer about hearing Carlos N Charlies is that expensive. We wanted to do a brief cocktail hour before our DDB tour. We will be providing booze on the bus and at the reception, so they can buy their own booze during the 1 cocktail, if they don't want water or pop.

Why not skip the cocktail hour if you can't afford to host guests there and just do the DDB where you're supplying them with booze? It errs on the side of rude to invite guests somewhere then expect them to cover their tab. Just host them where you can afford - the DDB and reception! I would be happy with that, personally, as a guest :)

  • I think C&C is a tourist trap, so they charge a lot to groups since they're going to be turning away dumb asses who are willing to pay $14 for a drink.  I think the place is fun but only went once since I like to drink and it would have gotten expensive to do so there lol.  Margaritaville is similar; I wanted to have our rehearsal dinner there and they wanted $6k+ to rent the second floor, without including booze.  We spent a third of that at Hussongs with booze.

  • @tcnoble We have about an hour in between before the DDB arrives, so wanted to just do some quick appetizers like the chips and salsa while we do some pics before we jumped on the bus. I don't think it's at all rude to not spend $ for booze for an hour. I don't see it any differently than weddings who host a bar for however many hours, then turn it to a cash bar. We'll have booze on the bus and a 4 hours fully serviced bar with dinner at our In Suite at The Orleans. (I did leave that part out earlier sorry).
