Hocking Hills, OH HELP!!!

I am getting married in Hocking Hills (Logan, OH) 12/13/14.  I am having a hard time finding vendors in the community or that will travel cheaply.  I am currently still in need of a photographer, music, and possibly a hairdresser.  Any recommendation would be fabulous.

Re: Hocking Hills, OH HELP!!!

  • I'm going to be brazen, forgive me Sloth & Lar, and move this to the Cbus board. We have a decently active board and you should be able to get some advice.

Ladies...suggestions? I know we've have some Hocking Hills brides in last year.

  • donethat I think you've had some HH recs in the past...what you can tell this bride?? :)

jmesue79 start going through the threads on this board and see what you a find for vendors. Most Cbus vendors will travel to Hocking Hills.

  • @photokitty you're just too fast for me!  :P  I was clicking "move" when it was suddenly already here!

Good luck, OP, that is a beautiful area!

  • If you look up eloping in hocking hills you'll find several vendors. Hocking hills actually made a website of vendors as well.
    Explorehockinghills.com/weddings
that site has tons of vendors within the area. Also check craigslist for photograohy. I found several that will travel to hocking hills either for free or a small fee.
  • It takes a lot of research but i found a good amount of vendors (then again my wedding is teeny tiny)
  • Thank you everyone.  We actually already have the cabin reserved and it will be on site.  I think I am going to have to outsource to Lancaster or Columbus, I really wanted to support local business with it being such a small area.  I will keep looking, but please let me know if any more ideas arise!
  • I'm not aware of any one in Logan specifically.  But if you want to keep it local, I'd suggest expanding your search to Lancaster and Athens.  Both are relatively close to Logan, and being larger towns, have more resources available.

I was married at Deer Creek State Park in Fayette County.  I had some Columbus vendors and some local vendors.  The lady who did our cake was from Washington Court House.  The cake was amazing and very affordable.  And she only charges a $30 delivery fee outside of the local area.  Her name is Ashley Johnson and the business is Peace, Love, and Sweets <CLICK>

Our photographer was from Columbus, but her prices were very affordable (almost half of other photographers we saw) and the travel fees were minimal as well. Our pictures turned out beautifully. (Re: travel fees: I think $1 per mile for every thing more than 30 miles from her business address. Our ceremony was about 50 miles away and we paid about $20 in travel fees.  It looks like Logan is generally 60ish miles from her office in Westerville, so you'd likely be paying somewhere around $30 in travel fees.)  Her name is Jenni Martini and the business is My Studio 23 Photography <CLICK>

If you want more details on either of them, I posted a vendor review on the Columbus board in early July.

  • Maybe try Athens for vendors!  This link has some good lists of resources!

This is an informative website, with lots of wedding specialist vendors in the hills. (Warning @photokitty small town sweet-cheese alert ahead <3)

Suggestion.  Once you've found even one vendor or person in the area that you like and trust and that gets you ... ask that person to help you find those hidden gem "others".

    Good Luck!

  • I would call the local Hocking Hill Tourism Assc and they can give you references and ideas of who to call.  At Boulders Edge has a certified person to marry people.  There are many photographers in the area.  The Traveling Chapel is also a great resource and provide most services
  • Try Amy Rebecca Photography...  She was our photographer and lives in Lancaster so she would be decently close to Hocking Hills (we actually considered Hocking Hills for our engagement pictures but changed our mind.

Ditto a previous poster for recommending to check out Athens...  They will have more selection and will be decently close to the area.
