I give up!

After spending a few hours (2? 3?) trying to wrap a box in fabric, I have determined that making my own card box is beyond me. $50+ in supplies later and I placed an order on Amazon. I'm also developing a beautiful rash on my arm from the spray adhesive. Joy.

I've been working on outlining our ceremony and writing my vows. They look wretched. I really want to give up but haven't figured out how to outsource.

FI wants a garter toss but I finally succeeded in talking him out of it. I now feel kinda bad and have been looking at garters online. I've been trying to track down supplies to make a Metallica-themed garter (someone gave me a basic one) but have been failing.

Dinner tonight sucked. I made homemade pizza but my dough didn't cook as expected in our new oven.

I'm feeling like a domestic and wedding-planning failure tonight. On top of that, I made a big bowl of self-pity popcorn-- then knocked it all over the floor. My beautiful popcorn made on the stove with the last of my coconut oil... Sadness....

Anyone else having an off day?

Re: I give up!

  • Sorry to hear about your day! We all have one of those every so often!

My day started off well, but I ended up having to take a few pain killers, which just knocked me on my ass. So, I was pretty much useless.

  • WandaJune, I had a card box disaster too, which was just beyond me. Wrapping a box in paper
FFS! I can reupholster a chair and print my own fabric and sew gowns, and I ran into issues wrapping a damned box? What the hell?
Probably just overwhelmed and preoccupied. Too much. Give yourself a day off.
  • @Jells2dot0‌ - that's no fun! Sorry!

@ohannabelle‌ - you could be right. I could also have grossly overestimated my craftiness. The realization that I only have 3 weeks until the wedding doesn't help either.

Hopefully it will feel better tomorrow.

  • I'm sorry you've had such a tough day. I hope tomorrow is better. Maybe avoid that particular spray adhesive though. Big hugs. xx

    Sorry about your rough day.

     HUGGGS

I had to rewrite a 3 page paper that I thought I had done well. I sent the draft to the teacher and he tore it apart for the content. Grammar and spelling rips I'm ok with, but wanting me to redo it because you don't agree with my stance on a literary criticism of Don Quixote is not ok.

ETA: Apparently TK wants my paragrpahs.

Hugs to you too!  I've had this happen and outright had showdowns with high school teachers and professors over it.  It wasn't as if I couldn't support my view point.

Thanks! I had contextual evidence from the book, including the sources that many of the footnotes reference, but because it's not the way that the criticism is applied to Don Quixote classically. I have to rewrite.  Ugh.  Oh well, its done now.  And I'm Netflixing Bridezillas.

WTF? I know I don't have a college education, but that doesn't seem right to me. I thought the rule was "as long as you can back it up, it's good"?!

All the wine for you, and none for your d-bag teacher!

  • Those are the kind of days where I just kinda quit and watch netflix for the rest of the day.

  • I'm sorry! Honestly, I've had that happen so many times to me with crafty stuff. I wanted to make cork place card holders and it freaking impossible. I may just give up.
  • I think I'm just picking my battles now- and retreating before I waste too much time.

I remember writing papers about Don Quijote for my Spanish major 1001 years ago. I remember it mainly because I got docked because I didn't follow Cervantes' style. I was writing in Spanish, FFS!

I wish I knew this :( I had some but just gave them away to a friend of a friend a couple weeks ago! I had to do mine by hand with a hand saw, it was a bitch.

OP.... next time this happens, wine in a covered cup ;)

FI was using his buzz saw in the garage..lol. It just seems like so much work.
  • Wanda, I'm sorry all this is happening to you. I thin I feel more bad about your popcorn than anything else...all that effort for nothing...But don't worry you'll feel better soon! I'm sure everything will go into place. As for me, I had my first little exploring session today in my new London area and got some groceries all on my own so I'm feeling rather proud. I though I'd get lost so easily but it all came naturally. Tonight I'll make some marinara mussels and spring vegetables pasta. FI will come home late but I guess I could wait for him before stuffing my face?

  • In my eyes, you're still a domestic goddess for attempting *anything* you wrote about in your OP!! I too had a cardbox disaster, but that was because I ordered it from Etsy and didn't like the way it looked once it got there. And my popcorn disasters are usually in the variety of burning it in the microwave.

    Kudos, chica.

You're sweet. The popcorn is actually really easy- melt a spoonful of coconut oil in a pot, add popcorn, shake it around then wait for it to pop. Coconut oil makes it taste like movie popcorn, especially when you add a bit of salt. Not terribly healthy but so yummy.

  • OH SHIT I need a card box.

Sorry to hear about your bad day :(  Build a nest and curl up with a good book!  Hope the rest of the week goes better ^_^

My popcorn disasters come in the form of eating too much of it.

  • I too have a card box disaster!  Thankfully my venue had one for me to use.  Had I known that to begin with, I wouldn't have even started one!

But for the garter, we didn't do that tosses, but I still wore one.  I let H take it off when we got home!
