TMI Grossness: Bacne! HALP!

image

I have never in my life had this problem, until now, 3 weeks before my wedding. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I have, however, had issues with regular acne my entire life, but I have never found something that really works well for me either, so I can't even just pick up a similar body product.

Help! How do I make it go away?! What products work/don't work?

P.S. PLease tell me that everything will be alright. I am having a meltdown over here.

Re: TMI Grossness: Bacne! HALP!

  • H gets some bacne, (I think it's stress) I occasionally put something with scrubbers I it ( you know, like a face wash that's meant to exfoliate) and scrub his back in the shower. We get naked shower time, helps him destress (even if only a little) and cuts down on bacne.

Ah, yes, I have a face wash like this. It doesn't work particularly well on my face, but it's worth a shot!
  • DH used to get really bad bacne from stress. He used this:image
It helped a little. I would also recommend putting toner on your back after washing.

  • I get backne and one of the "duh!" things I learned was to make sure to wash my back after I wash all the conditioner out of my hair. I'd leave the conditioner in my hair, wash myself and then rinse out the conditioner. When I started getting my back again real quick after the conditioner was out, I noticed a reduction.

This is the best thing that has ever worked for my face, so it makes sense that it would work elsewhere!

Huh. You know what... I never thought of this! I always wash my conditioner off last (and sometimes deep conditioner stuff) before I get out of the shower. This is a great suggestion!

    Freak out slowly subsiding.
  • Get some of this too, it's a fucking godsend (click)

  • I thank you for having this thread!! I recently have been working out more and the bacne is outta CONTROL!  I also never thought of washing my back after conditioning, woops!  I also have purchased some acne body wash that I've been using on my back, I think it's helping a smidge. I think it's just pink grapefruit target brand.

  • I get bacne the worst when I work out at the gym and then wait too long to shower ("too long" being like 35 minutes after I'm done.  Laaameee).

    Cetaphil works well.

You could also try a scrub brush that reaches your back to exfoliate just a little (try it once a week and see if it helps, then go from there).

    Everything will be alright.  =)

And if you're worried about scarring/discoloration, sometimes when I want to get rid of an acne scar quickly I put Mederma on it a few times a day.  After less than a week they're usually gone or visibly reduced.

    Thank you!!!

Also, thanks for the Mederma suggestion as well. My knee-jerk reaction was to pick (I know, I know. STOP IT.), so am am a little worried about this.
  • I've read that milk of magnesia works well. It's cheap and worth a shot.

  • DH regularly gets bacne. We also do joint shower time, and I regularly scrub his back first with soap, then with biore pore scrubber. It helps cut down on breakouts, though the redbull consumption tends to cause them in the first place....
  • Phisoderm anti-blemish body wash. That shit is amazing. And tea tree oil.
  • Cetaphil and Clearasil will work very well or Neutrogena Body Wash for the body. If all else fails, I suggest you take some antibiotics such as Doxycycline. Very effective in two weeks to clear everything and might not even reappear if taken the right way for a full 30 days. You can take two a day for 7 days and then one a day for the rest of the pack. Will work wonders for face and back. Otherwise, cut down on stress as much as possible and don't wear thick creams on your back. Topically, you can get a prescription for Tretinoin or Benzoyl Peroxide at least 5%. Good luck!

  • My PCP prescribed Spironolactone for me about a year and a half ago since I've been blessed with adult acne. It's made a HUGE difference. I hardly ever break out now. Side effect is having to urinate more frequently, but it's a small price to pay to not have to deal with painful breakouts. Also, don't get pregnant on it; that would be bad.

When I do occasionally get a pimple, I use tea tree oil. It's pretty incredible, and you can get it in the health section of Walmart or Target.
