My 21st birthday, the last birthday that my dad was alive, he got me a nice set of Oneida silverware. But it was just a set for 4--since I was in college at the time he probably assumed I didn't need a crap ton of silverware. I was pretty sure that the pattern had been discontinued.
So a package came for FI today and he opened it up tonight, brought it over to me unceremoniously, said "this is for you" and went back to playing Starcraft. I opened it up and it was my silverware...he ordered another set of 4 so that now I have a full set, and he ordered the serving utensils that match it. I instantly got teary and went over to him. He pulled me into his lap and I thanked him and he said he heard that it was being discontinued so he wanted to order it now. Sigh. Sometimes he can be so gosh darn thoughtful. :')
