For the first time in 29 years...

....I have a middle name!!

My parents didn't give me one because they said "it's not used for anything so why bother". In high school, my name used to print on the attendance reports as Jenna NMN Last (for no middle name) so my friends would joke and call me NMN. Went to the social security office to change to my new husband's last name and I took my maiden name as my middle name (just like my mom and her mom did). So it's very exciting that I have a middle name/ initial now hahah! Also, the day I returned to work from the honeymoon, my boss had already changed my name plate on my door so that was impressive and exciting.

What exciting stuff is going on with you guys?! Who's all getting married this weekend?!

Re: For the first time in 29 years...

  • Yay that's awesome! My paperwork hasn't come in yet. :(

Umm I'm trying to get this heinous broad at work off my account. While simultaneously trying to get a new job. Attending a wedding this weekend!

@ElcaB I'm feeling better today, thank god!! Still a little stuffy, but much better than yesterday.
  • @lolo883 Your marriage license hasn't come in yet or your SSI/ driver's license? I went and changed it at those places but the actual ID's haven't come in the mail yet. I knew that I wanted to go get it done the Monday after my honeymoon so literally the day after wedding I had the marriage license in the mailbox with the flag up. And since I live in a tiny town and was probably the only one they received, it was processed in 2 days!

Aaaaaaah congrats @cupcait927 and @climbingbride!!!! Cannot wait to see all your pics, have a wonerful time!!!

The marriage license. My county is... special. They need at least 10 days to process it after they receive it, and then I have to request an official copy, they don't just send it. And there are only 3 places where it can be requested, and the closest one to us is only open on Thursdays. So I'll try today, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't know if the pastor mailed it the Monday after the wedding or dropped it off in person, or if they really meant business days and not calendar days.

Ours doesn't mail it either- I had no idea, just assumed they would! What a pain... I have no idea when I'm going to have time to go request official copies. Until then, DH will continue to refer to me as imposter HisLastName ;-)

And to add insult in injury, it's $22 to get it. GRR.

Yup I had to walk into the office and ask for it. It was $10 each and I got two of them because to change the passport, they need a copy to keep.

@ClimbingBrideNY‌ get you some minty face wash/body wash/ or shampoo. Use it in a hot shower and breeeeeaaaaathe deeply. It'll open up your nasal passages.

That's a great idea. Thanks Beeth!
  • Sweet! I also do not have a middle name. And for some reason, sometimes when I tell people that, they don't believe me. They think it's something awful that I don't want to reveal.

  • Congrats on the new name! I did the same when I got remarried, though I did have a middle name from birth. I wondered why I didn't do it the first time around.

...But how did you know that you were in trouble? lol

lol I know right....my name is also not the long version so it's not even like Jennifer. My best friend in college thought it was totally ridiulous that I didn't have a "full" name so she nicknamed me Jennifer Ann. lol

  • @Jenn8984 The passport agency will return your marriage license. I just renewed mine in May and received both my marriage license and original/expired passport back in the mail. I did buy two marriage licenses, but just in case one gets lost.

Gaaaah I can't wait to change my name.  Unfortunately, the social security office is only open weird ass hours, during the week, and I have this thing called a job.  My supervisor keeps telling me I can take an extended lunch to go get it taken care of and then random "projects" keep popping up and by the time I can leave, it's closed (3 on M/T/Th/F and 12 on W).

(Sorry for the random rant!  Congrats to you!)

HA, too true!  (I put in about 5 years with them, I feel like I'm allowed to snark.  Who am I kidding, I would snark anyways.)

  • pinkcow13, I feel you on that one! I don't have a middle name, and people are always shocked, like it's not a possibility, and therefore, I must be hiding something.
