Hotel screwed us

We blocked 28 rooms and the hotel only ended up giving us 15 without telling us that they were apparently giving our other rooms away. We found out that they messed up our contract when our friends started being told that there were no more rooms available. Then we find out the hotel is completely full so they can't remedy their mistake. We have everything in writing for what they were supposed to fulfill, so now what? My FI called them and asked for additional compensation because they didn't fulfill their end of the agreement and this means we have to spend more money on our shuttle; we reserved a shuttle to this hotel only, and now our friends are scattered in different hotels. Ugh, this is ranty - sorry. I'm just so pissed.

  • It's not ranty at all and you have every right to be pissed.  Do you have any written correspondence from the hotel about the original reservation?  If so, you should be able to get them to cover the cost of shuttles by threatening to report them to the appropriate hotel boards or what not.  In any event, wait until after the wedding and get all ranty on Yelp and the like.

  • Ugh. That SUCKS. You have every right to rant! I really hope you can get the hotel to compensate you for the extra costs.

  • I'd be beyond pissed. You had a written agreement. They fucked that up. They need to be compensating you.
  • Yeah, everything is in writing. I'm sure we could go after them if we wanted to fight. What really pisses me off is they said they have 2 other large groups there, so I KNOW they gave our rooms away to the other groups in order to book them. I know how hotels work and once a block is in the system, it doesn't just disappear.
  • I did go have a margarita in between posting this and following up, so I'm feeling slightly better.
  • I'd ask them to pay for your shuttle. Like the whole thing. Then have the shuttle just loop from hotel A to hotel B to reception to hotel A...... And make sure the alternate hotel you pick is close to either hotel sucks-a-lot or your reception venue.

    This sucks. I'm sorry. It happened to us too and we ended up having people stay at 3 hotels. :(

  • You should be able to forward any email documentation you have to a corporate level, if they won't fix this on the individual hotel level.
