Good call; definitely more options down here!

We went with all woman-owned businesses, with the exception of our entertainment and officiant.

Dresses and my alterations: The White Dress, Brighton. Owned by a girl I went to college with in Midland. Gorgeous selection, lots of lace.

Florist: Happiness Is...The Little Flower Shop, Farmington Hills. Could not have been happier with my bouquet! (DIYed the centerpieces) Several people told me we had the most unique wedding bouquets they'd ever seen.

Photographer: Moxie Photography, Royal Oak. Diana is an absolute miracle worker, and was great with the kids in the wedding. See our engagement shoot AW here.

Cake: Love and Buttercream, Royal Oak. Owned by a 20-something MSU grad, everything made from scratch. Again, several people told me it was the best wedding cake they'd ever eaten. (Lemon with fresh strawberries and cream cheese buttercream.

Entertainment: Piano Wars. Holy cow were they amazing. A bit of a splurge from what we had planned, but the dance floor was packed ALL NIGHT LONG.

Officiant: Pastor Roy Thomas, Bloomfield Hills. Let us completely customize our script from a list of sample readings he sent us, with just as much God-iness as we wanted.

Oh man, I love Novi! I grew up close to Novi (Plymouth) and my cousins live there, so I used to work in Novi and I've been hanging out there since I was little. We got married at the Baronette at Twelve Oaks. :-)

Mmmmm- I'll have to try it out next time I'm in town! We had brunch there after the wedding, but I was too tired/overwhelmed to really enjoy anything. Everyone raved it about the food though!

  • Sorry, I have no local Detroit recommendations-- but that photographer looks great!

Also I crack up a little bit whenever you guys call Detroit the D.  Tee hee.

I crack up every fucking time. I am a mature adult.
  • I also got married in detroit! (well Pontiac to be exact) Not sure if you are looking for any other vendors but here ya go ;)

DJ - Mike Staff Productions (Our DJ from them was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was he got my H's name wrong in the introduction.)

Caterer - Detroit BBQ Company (I'm not kidding you....I still get compliments on our food 4 months later. It was amazing.)

Cake - Holiday Market (I would recommend them OVER AND OVER again. Our cakes were fantastic! I did a 2 tier cake for us to cut and then the venue served and we also had two sheet cakes from them in the back with different flavors and fillings. They also are giving us a free 1 year anniversary cake)

Photographer - Lauren Piippo Photography (I went to CCS with her and she is just starting out and worked us a great deal!)

    Flowers - Costco (I'm cheap)

Dress - I actually bought it in Columbus OH but I had it altered and steamed at the Wedding Shoppe in Royal Oak. They were great to work with.

Some other Reccos - My friend was also recently married in Detroit, and if you are looking for a band rather than a DJ she booked the Dan Rafferty Band - Holy crap they were awesome! I've never seen a more packed dance floor and they can do anything!
