My Ring!! *passes out*

I was cleaning it just now, and I noticed the diamond in my band closest to the center stone is MISSING! It's overshadowed by the center stone so I know it is not from being too rough with it.

It's Tacori, and they have a lifetime warranty, but all of the ring drama stories make me so so nervous... Like what if I send my ring back to them and they say "nope, not gonna replace the side stone" or they switch out and steal my beautiful center stone.. Paranoid.

I want to send it in ASAP but I work and then mom is having surgery on Tuesday, so I'm booked on time :(

Just wanted to cry to you guys... 17 months of having this ring and it does the unspeakable! Waaaaahhhhhh

Re: My Ring!! *passes out*

  • :( I've been worried about that as well.  I'd be seriously unhappy if the little diamonds on the band fell out, but I'm most worried about the emerald center stone chipping or cracking.  Ring worries are no fun at all.  I'm sure it will all work out for you though.
  • OH No. I'm sure since it has a lifetime warranty they'll treat it right. I know the ring stories are scary though.

I would take it off and put it in a baggy to make sure nothing else happens since you can't take it in right away. Maybe even call them and give them a heads up, that way you can know ahead of time how long it might take and everything.

If you were worried about the emerald chipping or cracking, why did you choose an emerald?  They are soft and fragile.

  • I have ring nightmares all the time.  My imagination runs away with me when I sleep!

I agree with cwradford: put it in a little baggie for now to keep it safe.

  • Ugh, I hear ya.

The other day I was just kind of playing with my wedding band and several stones were spinning easily in their settings. I immediately put it in a baggie and H took it to Jared that afternoon. It was terrifying.

  • It'll be okay, especially if you have a warranty. Do you like/trust the store where you got it?

  • I just took my rings in for their 6 month inspections and my band had a loose stone.  I haven't had it since Saturday and I have done nothing but worry about it since.  It could take until the 9th for it to come back in!  The only good thing about it is that H keeps feeding me wine to make me stop thinking about it.

  • If it makes you feel any better, I've inherited a number of items of jewelry that needed work, and I had no problems at all with it.  I did have to pay out of pocket for some, but I still use the jeweler in Hong Kong where my mother bought most her jewelry.  He fixes her things for me for free, and posts them back to the States.  No problems at all.  He charges for things not bought from him, but I have no idea where they came from, and even with a lifetime warranty, a few of the pieces I own would have exceeded this.  Half the time I have no idea what country these items were even purchased in.

I think people are more apt to tell horror stories than they are when things turn out alright.  Hopefully, you won't have any problems getting your ring fixed.

The store we bought it from is no longer an authorized dealer, so we have to go somewhere else. Doesn't matter, because you are required to send your rings back to Tacori for any kind of work. Otherwise it voids the warranty.

I'm thinking of sending my brand new wedding band too just for a checkup.. But I dont want to be ring less..

  • @Sugargirl1019 I'm not sure what kind of ring you have, but on my ring, a diamond, since its certified, it has a tiny number engraved on it, and when held up to the jewelers microscope they can read off the number. When we bought my ring, they gave me a pamphlet that had all of my diamonds information and that certification number on it since its not seen with the naked eye. Thus, when I take it in to get any work done and its away from me, before I leave the store, I have them read off the certification number to make sure they didn't switch my diamond on me. I don't know if that is possible for you with the center stone.

Yea my diamond is engraved :) I will definitely have someone read it to me when I pick it up, and I'll bring my GIA cert too with the numbers on it.

  • I know it is nerve wracking but I'm sure it will all work out.  Tacori is a very reputable name in rings.

  • So DH dropped it off at the jeweler, and they said, we cannot tell you if Tacori will charge. Do you want to send it away still? 8 weeks. I'm like uhh well yes send it I want it fixed.

Then they say, we'll take the diamond out so you keep with you while its gone. Cool! Don't have to worry about the diamond being switched.

Then DH texts back: the diamond is going with the ring. They were gonna charge us 250 to remount the diamond. Dhskakdjdjdajsndjf are you fucking crazy?? Don't touch my ring losers. Let Tacori handle it and my insurance will take care of any lost diamond problems.. Sigh.

Thankfully my diamond is engraved so I will have them read the inscription to me when we get it back.... I won't have it for my birthday! Waahhhh. My finger feels so naked already.
