Snarky Brides

Back to Work Wednesday

Good morning ladies!

My first full day back after a 4 day weekend, it's always rough!

Hoping the kids I work with aren't too off, but the holidays and lack of school always mess with their routines. So I may be drinking wine tonight... ;-)

  • aNgel- didn't see your post, so here we go :)

    how was everyones new years?

I was asleep by 9, I'm an old lady haha

and didn't do much yesterday, went to BB&B and got some christmas decorations on sale, thats about it :)

  • We took it easy on New Years too. Made some apps and put together Ikea furniture for our bedroom and office. I did a ton of organizing and some paperwork yesterday, I'm starting to feel more relaxed now that things are coming together. In old apartment drama: apparently the pot smoker moved out of the basement apartment 3 days after we moved out, so now FI wants to sue the landlord for pushing us out of the apartment (totally illegal). Buddy only moved in a couch, bed and TV, and never got any mail there AND works for the landlord's roofing company, seems pretty suspicious to us.... FI thinks we can get moving expenses and my week of lost wages from the smoke making me sick, talking to a lawyer and the landlord tenant board today. Drama, drama, drama! But at least I can deal with it from my beautiful new house! ;-)

  • We go back to work tomorrow - I'd like another full week though!

I know what you mean about the routine, Angel. A few of my students will have a rough couple of days coming too.

We had friends over for supper for NYE, but they left around ten (both had worked long shifts beforehand and he only had two hours sleep because he was on call). FI fell asleep on the couch and I watched some tv and made a list of resolutions. Quiet and cozy.

Missing DS like crazy, and not ready to go back to work. Sums me up.

  • Another copy & paste haha...

    Morning!
On NYE, we officially set our date! 10.26.13. It's been a windy road, but I'm excited to finally have it done. Also, FI asked his dad to be his Best Man while we were having dinner with his parents. We stayed up until midnight, but lie FI said, why do we bother? The ball drop is lame and all we do is bitchh about staying up.

    What are your resolutions, jenny?
  • Next year will be H and my last year without babies, :) So we'll probably do something.
    image
  • Thanks, Edie! Finally! We'd ben penciled in at the ceremony and reception locations, but nothing official, so I'm glad to finally have it out of the way.

I don't think we'll stay up unless we go out, but our area tends to be over crowded and terrible service on NYE, so we don't bother.

[QUOTE]Ooh baby Brittanies! I *think* we are going to start TTCing in August-ish.  H graduates in May and hopefully we'll be in a house by the end of July.

    Yes baby brittanies! YAY :)

We are going to start in January. I have PCOS and I really don't want to go on clomid of something of the sort, but it may end up having to be that way.

  • Congrats Sunshine! That's very exciting! Now you can start your countdown ticker :-)

  • Congrats on wedding dates and potential babies!!!

I have no idea on our baby timeline, obv it's not on our radar.

NYE was VERY interesting with BIL and his crazy 'humping on the dance floor' girlfriend. They got in a huge fight and broke up over the definition of an above-ground pool (no, I did not make this up) but then the next morning came out of the bedroom like nothing ever happened sooooo ok. BIL says this is standard, so I guess I'll just sit back and enjoy watching this roller coaster. I like her, but she puts the crazy upon herself.

I'll be around but pretty intermittent until April 15. Anticipating busy season is always so much worse than actual busy season.
  • Swag- tax season, it's busy for the both of us! :)

  • Morning everyone! I took FI to the airport early this am. He is going to a work conference in Arizona and plans to spend a few extra days out there mountain biking. I have been quarantining myself against him the last week since I have been sick hoping he won't get it.
    image
  • Off to work shortly, but did want to stop in and say good morning/afternoon......and baby, it's cold outside here!

H is sick and I feel "off" myself.  Not sick enough to stay home but not really well enough to deal with a full shift.  Hopefully patient load is light and I can leave early.  I don't have a fever or elevated temp, otherwise I would stay home.  Just blah.

We went out NYE for dinner with friends and as predicted, H was asleep by 10:30 PM.  I watched the NY ball drop and then the Chicago celebration an hour later.

This weekend I'm going to investigate Cardinal Fitness.  They have free enrollment for a limited time.  I have to turn away from full length mirrors these days :(

  • Hi ladies and Happy New Year!  I've popped in here and there, but between the wedding, honeymoon, moving, and catching up at work, I haven't had much time to chat.  Work has settled down now and I'm hoping to visit SB a bit more often.

Our NYE was pretty low key.  We had a few friends over and we just hung out and played a game (Cards Against Humanity - anyone ever play?  It's my new favorite!).  Everyone left by 12:30 and we were in bed by 1:00.  I'm just happy I made it till midnight!

Brittany, I know I'm super late here, but how was your wedding?  I remember you were getting married the day after us.  Your sig pic is beautiful!

<div>That's great!  Ours went off without a hitch as well and we had a great time.  That's absolutely amazing that your BM still made it after giving birth 3 days before - that's one good friend!!!  Congrats on the house!  It'll be so much fun to pick out everything.  We were hoping to be able to do that with ours, but we ended up getting an amazing deal on the model home, so that's what we went with (and honestly, just about everything is what we would've chosen anyway!).  It feels so good to finally be homeowners!</div>

  • hey ladies (now, I'll have beastie boys in my head all day). Hope everyone had great holiday's! I'm back to work today after having the week off. It was great but I didn't get as much done as I wanted.

Our NYE was super low key and we were in bed by 11. We're boring.

Yesterday we had to take Lucy to the vet - she's sick :( She keeps throwing up and is definitely not herself.

I'm on the "get in great shape this year" bandwagon with the wedding coming.

I just spent more money on books for the semester bringing the total up to 2800. i'm glad my work reimburses for tuition!
    image
  • $2800 just on books???  OMG!  I graduated with my bachelor's back in 2002 and I remember books costing me around $500 per semester and I thought that was a lot.  Holy cow.  $2800?!  I would cry.

<div>Yeah, they'd offer me like $0.50 for a book.  I ended up just keeping a few of the books that I basically would've gotten pennies back for.  Then they turn around and sell them back to other students for $50 or more.  </div>

  • No thats with tuition, but it was about 500 for just the books.

  • I always bought and sold on half.com (a subsidy of ebay) and did far better off than my friends who used bookstores.
  • I use chegg and just rent them. it's usually cheaper.

  • Brittany - our holidays were great. Christmas seemed oddly long because FI's mom had us over on Sunday, then my parents came over to our place on Monday and then we went to FI's dad's on Tuesday. It was good though..we're very thankful to have so much family around.
FI got me the Nike Free running shoes I wanted (they're leopard print, pink and grey) and a foodsaver with a few other things I had been wanting!

No brother drama - my parents just did Christmas with me and him seperate, it actually works out better that way anyway.

I'm finishing my last 2 classes and seeing book prices definitely makes me glad I did all online for my bachelor's degree.
