NWR Worries

As of today I am becoming a germ-a-phobe! Yesterday was my last day on health insurance (because I'm switching to FI's later this month). Also, I live in Dallas, where the 1st Ebola patient is located- so kind of worried about that. 2 of my coworkers are out sick with the flu.
I absolutely cannot afford to get sick or hurt right now! Plus, it would be terrible to be sick at the wedding! I'm going crazy with the hand sanitizer, Lysol spray, and hand washing. Also not touching any door knobs or other public surfaces with my skin!
Am I the only one going crazy during these last days before the wedding??

Re: NWR Worries

  • I'm going crazy too. Already got my flu shot. The family I work for is coming down with something, but at least I still have 17 days to go, so I might be ok by the wedding if I catch it now. Be careful with all the hand washing and sanitizer though. I once went a little over board and practically gave myself chemical burns for all the hand sanitizer. Make sure your moisturizing your hands plenty, so they don't look all red and dry in your pictures!! All the washing and sanitizing can do some damage. Good luck!!
  • Thanks! I have a bottle of lotion right next to my hand sanitizer, so I'm going back and forth.
I already destroyed by nails and cuticles by tying 128 twine bows for our wedding favors... so I'm gonna get my little stumps a manicure tomorrow.

I didn't really think about getting sick as a concern, but then the past two days...not today so far...I've had some very light annoying dry cough. Just enough to notice. I was worried I was coming down with a cold but today seems to be fine thank goodness. I'm more preoccupied with the fact my damn period is due two days after the wedding. So I'll already be bloated and possibly crampy for the wedding and then honeymoon.
  • @pepperally.  Me too!  Last month my cycle came early.  After calculations, it should be making its appearance either the day before or the day of the wedding.  So the original plan was that my bridesmaids would have to help me go to the bathroom in my dress.  Not happening now.  Ugh!

  • @mlynch65 That sucks! I've been obsessively tracking my cycle and luckily it should end about a week before the wedding! Just enough time for the bloating to go away and any residual acne to clear up.

  • I was MOH in a friends wedding this summer. She started her period a few days before the wedding. I had to help her pee during the wedding and witnessed somethings I did NOT want to see.. leaking. Poor thing! I just finished my period 2 days ago, thank the Lord! Just getting over some PMS-related Acne.

  • Thankfully for me and the pill (without it my cycle is all over the place) - so I was able to schedule things.

@mlynch65 - If you're able to, just have them help you get to a point where you're still modestly covered up and go potty that way; don't dehydrate yourself, it's not worth it!  Could you possibly put like a slip (or even shorts) on under your dress/over your undewear and have somebody help you in and out of your dress - should give you modest coverage.  I found <<THIS>> Maybe it would work but be a pain in the butt??

It sounds silly but going to the bathroom is one of my big worries - somebody told me that they just wiped the toilet down and "sat backwards"

  • Thanks @Dignity100.  At first I was going to try and put the bottom of my dress over my head.  My luck, I'd probably fall over!

I'm going to do my best to make it work.  I am determined to not let it ruin my day.  2 Aleves in the morning should do me good.

    Thanks Ladies!

  • I have been a little under the weather lately, along with the rest of the household, but I'm powering through it and feeling better today (finally). As far as my period... I got the Mirena IUD last month and so I'll be spotting every day until further notice, it seems. Ugh.
  • I've been worried about getting sick...I've been feeling a little "run down" for a couple of days so am now popping vitamins and emergen-C like candy. I'm pretty sure it's allergies (I'm in Austin, TX and its bad for me this time of year) - but if I still feel a little crummy on Friday I may go to a clinic and get some antibiotics just in case. Last thing I want is allergies turning to sinus infection the week of my wedding!
  • Groom just came down with a cold last night. In addition to taking care of him to get him in tip top shape before the wedding next week, I've got to make sure I don't catch it. Ugh!
  • Not so bad, but my nail broke as I was opening a window in my house.  Luckily it's the right had (ring finger) and it's not TOO bad, much shorter than I want (trying to avoid fake nails).  Funny how the 'little things' are now becoming 'bigger things'.  I'm trying to stay healthy just like everybody else!

  • Yes!! My immune system is infamous for crashing under pressure and stress (always sick on Christmas, was sick on graduation day, sick for the closing of my house).  Trying to drink lots and lots of water, get enough sleep, and hand wash frequently with lotion! My mom is sick now and she really wants to come to my fitting tonight, so I will do my best to not catch her virus. I still have over 3 weeks so if it's going to happen I'd rather it happen now to get it over with! Injury prevention is also on my radar. I do crossift so I am trying to scale most workouts to easier than I am capable of, and taking it easy on the pull-ups, heavy barbell work, etc so as not to rip my hands..I'm stopping 1 week before my wedding anyways to heal up whatever's ripped or bruised. Being a bride to be is a lot of work!!!!
  • In thinking about it, I guess I'm glad that I took off work most of next week/week before the wedding.  Much less exposure to germs!  I have various beauty appointments, though...maybe I'll wear a mask...lol.
  • Part of me is thinking about buying airborne and taking that (we're going in a plane 2 days before the wedding... the only saving grace there is most colds have that 3-5 incubation stage).

  • I always get sick after riding on a plane. I'll be on one going to the honeymoon, but I think airborne is probably a good idea. All that recycled air is not good!
