Coordinating wedding colors

My daughter's wedding gown is unique in color...a champagne sheath (sort of a blush shade) overlayed with ivory lace, it appears as a sort of blush tone combined.  She would like pale pink bridesmaid dresses, but I am wondering if this shade would clash with the champagne tone of wedding dress.

We were both wondering if instead of light pink, perhaps ivory white bridesmaid dresses with blush-toned ribbon trim, or is 'white' really not done?  I think it might be an elegant contrast to the wedding gown.  Any ideas?

Help!

Re: Coordinating wedding colors

  • There are many shades of pink.  If she really would like pink BM dresses my suggestion would be to take a swatch of fabric (both layers) from her wedding dress and then compare them to the variety of pink colored dresses.  This way you will see if any of the pinks clash.

As far as having ivory or white bridesmaid dresses with a colored sash, that is completely fine as well as long as she is ok with it...I think it is perfectly acceptable for the WP to wear white because the bride decides what color they are wearing while I think it is unacceptable if either mother wears white because the bride has no control over that color and thus making it look like either mother is trying to out-shine or snub the bride.

  • I've seen some really nice pictures with the whole bridal party wearing white.  If the bride is wearing a veil it should be obvious that she is the bride and not someone else.  But I know a lot of brides wouldn't be ok with that.
