Bridal Shower Surprise! [AW]

Today was my last work day before the wedding. Around 10:30 my boss comes up to me and says "[QA Manager] needs to see you."  I'm like, shit, I fucked something up really badly. So we walk down to her desk and she goes "Let's go into the conference room."  Double shit, I'm about to get my ass fired. So she opens the door and all the women from the company (it's a pretty small business) yell "Surprise!" There are streamers and cake and food for days. I had a Halle Berry at the Oscars moment

It was just so freaking nice of everyone and I was so completely surprised!

  • @ladygoldfish‌.. I had the same happen to me today. I got a invite last night for 930a this morning about a project. I said to myself there is no way I can start a new project, 3 days before I take off for my wedding. I thought my boss was nuts! There was no way I could take on the extra stress of meeting any type of deadline, when I a can barely concentrate on work. I walked into the conference room with her and there was my dept, with breakfast, conference room decorated with the same flowers for my wedding, a cake, a tshirt that had my soon to be married name, and very thoughtful gifts. What an awesome experience!

Aw! My coworkers suck and they're all bitches so I'm living vicariously through your stories!
  • My coworkers hosted a happy hour for me today. It wasn't a surprise, but they did go the full length and get a cake and had a beautiful handmade card signed by a lot of people I work with. They had also all pooled $ and got me a gift card to where we are registered! One of the highlights is that the bakery where thy got the cake messed up, so my congrats cake had a happy birthday card included in it. It was signed by a bunch of people who I don't know! hahaha! I feel bad for whoever the card was intended for!
  • All my job did was say congrats and that was it lol one of my coworkers gave me a gift card which was sweet.
  • Apparently FH's work also threw him a party today (it was his last day before the wedding). They gave him a card, but he left it at work! Didn't even open it. I told him he should try to go in tomorrow to get it. If there's something inside, I'd rather have it now than 2 weeks from now (shallow, I know!). Although, he did remember to bring the double chocolate cake home that was leftover from the party. So I think I can forgive him ;)

  • You girls are so lucky to have caring co-workers!!

I keep wondering if my work is up to something, but I work with a bunch of guys so probably not (Plus one of my other co-workers in the same department is getting married on Oct 11 and I'm Oct 14; nobody asks him about his wedding from what I can see).  People keep asking me and coming up and say 'getting closer'.  I didn't make a HUGE announcement that I was getting married anywhere including work, hell I never even updated my Facebook status (see how much I hate being the center of attention??) - my relationship status has always been 'blank'.  I figure people MAY notice when my name changes and I MIGHT post a picture or two. . .

  • Yea, I don't think I'll be getting any surprise shower either. For my weekday job, I work by myself, and then my weekend job, my co-workers are pretty much all teenage or college girls who probably have no money to put anything together, lol. Besides, I only see them on the weekends anyway, so we aren't very close. But that is so nice that a lot of you ladies were surprised like that! Everyone deserves it after all the hard work and stress we've been going through!!
  • My department is taking me out after work this Monday. It ended up being the last day I'm going into the office anyway. But they sent me the invite in our outlook calendar and it doesn't look like too many accepted, and many aren't in the office either. So it will be small but just grabbing some drinks so no biggie.
