  • Go buy caramels (or if you have sweetened condensed milk, you could make caramel) and kosher salt. http://ciao-mama.com/?s=Brown+butter&submit=Search

  • These: Nutella stuffed brown butter + sea salt chocolate chip cookies. Even without Nutella, they are still amazing. The brown butter really makes a huge difference.
  • Here's my favorite to make.

    Snickerdoodles

    Makes 3 dozen

    Ingredients
    2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
    1/2 cup shortening
    2 large eggs

Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Make sure that the cream of tartar and baking soda are fresh. Don't use baking soda that's been sitting around for a year.

In a separate bowl, beat the butter, shortening, and sugar until light and very fluffy on medium speed.

Add and beat the eggs until well combined.

Stir in the flour mixture until it's smooth and well combined.

Refrigerate the dough. I usually make the dough the night before and then bake them up the morning of the party.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place the oven rack in the upper third of the oven. Line the baking sheets with parchment paper.

Separate the dough into 3. Work with one third of the dough at a time and keep the rest refrigerated. Break the third into 12 pieces and lightly roll into a rough ball. Don't make the balls too perfect as the heat of your hand will start to melt the dough. Roll the balls in a sugar and cinnamon mixture.

    Sugar and Cinnamon Mixture
    1/4 cup sugar
    4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Place cookies on cookie sheet and bake 8 to 11 minutes until edges are light golden brown. My cookies typically take 10 to 11 minutes, but this varies by oven. Rotate the cookies half way through.

When the cookies are done let them sit on the cookie sheet for about 5 minutes and then transfer them to a rack.

Cook only one cookie sheet at a time and let the cookie sheet cool a bit before the next batch. This will prevent your cookies from melting too soon.
  • @lolo883 @kat1114 I'm not a huuuuge fan of the salty or  salt/carmel flavors. I think I'm the only one in the world :( Those look yummy, but I think they'd be better suited for when I bake for other people and not myself lol

Here is my all time favourite classic:

     Ingredients (3 dozen)

    2 1/4 cup(s) all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 cup(s) (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
    1/2 cup(s) granulated sugar
    1 cup(s) packed light-brown sugar
    1 teaspoon(s) salt
    2 teaspoon(s) pure vanilla extract
    2 large eggs
2 cup(s) (about 12 ounces) semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the butter with both sugars; beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce speed to low; add the salt, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until well mixed, about 1 minute.

Add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Drop heaping tablespoon-size balls of dough about 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Bake until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center, 8 to 10 minutes.

Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week.

EDT: Much better with paragraphs, damn you TK.

  • Posted about these on another thread, but still super yummy.

PS, If you don't like caramel, they're still pretty darn good without them

  • I just stopped and got a chocolate chip cookie at Starbucks because of this thread. Y'all suck.

  • My vote is for a good old fashioned chocolate chip cookie using the recipe off the back of the Tollhouse bag.

They're better with Rolo centres than with caramel squares. With the squares, you have to heat them up before eating them, or else the caramel hardens too much.

My mom did this and everyone always swore she made the best chocolate chip cookies.

I can't find the recipe for my favorite cookies (my mom's russian tea cakes) but I'll share this one for almond bars (CLICKY)

It won best cookie at the church girls' cookie swap last Christmas!

  • raissyrais, just a bigger batch). So far it is the bomb and has made more cookie dough than I know what to do with. First batch just out of the oven and they are truly soft and chewy goodness. I'm keeping all of these good suggestions, though!

These have my name written all over them.
  • ....my favorite recipe involved break'n'bake, and they usually don't make it to the oven....

I just baked a bunch of chocolate chip cookies for my father's work this weekend because they had been requested.  Bf's work also requests my cookies from time to time.  Yep recipe from the back of the Tollhouse bag nothing better.

My FI praises me like a goddess when I make my cookies! They are so simple but so good! Also have to keep an eye that he doesn't eat everything on his own. Yours look too, actually the same to mine but just more batter you're right!
