DIY hair?

Have any of you guys have done or are thinking or doing your own hair at home for your big day? Or having a friend help you out?
If so, could you share where did you get the inspiration or tutorials?

Thanks!

Re: DIY hair?

  • I am planning on doing my own hair because I have super curly hair, and don't trust a stylist to be able to actually style it the way I want. I have found super helpful videos on Youtube. I would look there.

  • I'm doing my own hair because I have short hair and can't justify the prices I was quoted just to put a little mousse in it. I found some good videos on Youtube and some awesome websites. Pinterest was helpful too (sometimes).

  • Have you heard of the http://www.thedrybar.com/ ? while looking for styles I came accross this and I made my appointment 40 bucks and for what I see it looks amazing. @vulpiepop
No, I haven't heard of them! I will definitely check it out! Thanks! :)

  • My mom and sister did mine.  I looked on Pinterest and showed them some pictures I like.  I also had some vague ideas "not entirely up, but pinned back away" and they went from there.  It didn't look exactly like any of the pictures, but I liked it, and H LOVED it.
  • Youtube! I learned how to french braid my hair by following a video.  They have so many tutorials on there, some better than others.  Just make sure you practice a lot before the big day!

This place is awesome, but are only in a few cities on the east coast. They just do blow outs, so no pinning or anyhing, just a blow dryer and a round brush.

I haven't been to DryBar, but I 'm pretty sure they are in tons of cities, because I live on the west coast and we have them.

DryBar does a lot more than just a round brush.  They curl hair and offer some easy up-dos.  I went twice to a "blowout" bar and the first time they used a curling iron, the second time a straightener to curl my hair.  They can work wonders and most salons offer a blowout option.  All they do is wash your hair, dry and curl. They use products to help your style stay, and most styles can stay for two days with proper care.   Here's just one of the options from drybar so you can see:image

  • @butterscotchjbeans I'm doing my engagement photos this weekend and getting a blowout at a local salon since they don't have drybar in the area.  Totally going to use the style you posted for some soft curls! :)

  • I'm a pin up model among my many weird jobs and I'm used to doing my hair and make up for events and cameras. I'm still deciding if I'm going for the victory rolls and faux bangs for the wedding or not. I learn so much from the folks who do hair and make up tutorials on youtube. Some of the tips are such lifesavers
