Thank You Notes for Bridal Party Gifts?

Is it required of bridal party attendants to provide a thank you card for the gifts given to them for being in the bridal party? Or is it redundant to write a thank you card for a thank you gift?

Re: Thank You Notes for Bridal Party Gifts?

  • What about for Christmas gifts? Sorry for coming off as daft, but I don't trust a lot of my internet searchings and was wondering what you ladies thought.

Every gift requires a thank you, whether it be a note, an email, or verbal, EXCEPT thank you notes for thank you gifts. A verbal thank you when you receive the gift is sufficient.

When I was a kid my mom required thank you notes for all Christmas and birthday gifts. That's gone by the wayside note but I wish I was still better about it. Obviously I still give multiple verbal thank yous!

  • Admittedly, I was a little miffed when I failed to receive any kind of sign of gratitude from one of BM's... Got over it pretty quickly b/c I expected her to be ungrateful. But, then I got to thinking, how many times I may have unknowningly came off this way when receiving gifts and thought I'd ask fellow knotties what they thought.

BTW, my BM ended up apologizing later on for being so rude to me after my wedding.
