Budget Wedding Venue; OKC or Norman

Hello everyone!

My fiance and I are on a pretty small budget, as we are paying for the wedding ourselves and would rather spend the majority on a nice honeymoon.  Anyone have great, budget friendly ideas for a wedding venue and/or reception in the OKC or Norman area?  I love outside or an indoor place with a great feel....it has to have some sort of character to it.  Thanks!

I love the venue I chose - the Old Trinity Chapel in the Paseo district.

The girls there are great (they come with the chapel as planners) and the packages are very customizable (and affordable!)

aaaaand now I sound like a creepy spokesperson - I'm just really excited about the whole thing!

How large/formal of a wedding are you planning and what time of year?  What things are important to you in a venue?  There are definitely options to save money, but those always come with stipulations of course.

The State Capitol is free, but doesn't allow alcohol or dancing (other than first/parent dances).  It also doesn't have air conditioning in the common areas when congress is not in session, so that would most likely be a problem in the summer.  I'm planning to do an October wedding there, but a reception elsewhere so that the alcohol/dancing thing is not an issue.

A coworker recently rented one of the local Santa Fe train depot's for a small wedding and I believe they did so quite economically.

Check out UCO.  I hear their rates are very reasonable and from pictures looks like a beautiful place.

I second MarathonBride!  We are also using Old Trinity of Paseo!  I absolutely love this place!!  I am just as excited also!!  The girls have been amazing, and I love, love LOVE that just about everything is included in the price!  Makes my life so much easier!

South Lakes Park event center at SW 119th & Meridian. It overlooks a lake in the back & is beautiful. I am getting married there June 30th. I fell in love with the lake & found it to be the perfect place for us after a frustrating search for the perfect venue for our wedding. It will be an outdoor ceremony & indoor reception. The facility holds 150 & comes with tables & chairs so that is something you do not have to worry about renting. It also has a small kitchen area as well for food & a large room that you can decorate accordingly for your day.The lake view in the back is absolutely beautiful! It was $600 to rent for the entire day. You can also rent it at a hourly rate as well. $150 for the first 3 hours & $50 every additional hour. You have to go there to appreciate how beautiful the place is. They have a website. Best of luck & congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

I've looked around everywhere to find somewhere affordable. I keep coming back to this place. I'm having my wedding 5/10/2014. I will be checking out a few other places... but this place is at the top of my list at the moment!
  • How was it? We are interested...
  • I just moved to OKC with my fiancé. The bridal magazines seem to list only expensive venues. I found this post to be very helpful and I plan to check out each suggested venue. Thanks!
